Hi All - thanks in advance for your help.

Can anyone suggest an area in or around the Poly to spend a couple of relaxing hours?

During our upcoming September trip, We have a late lunch ADR at Kona and need a place to relax for a bit afterward before heading to the Magic Kingdom for MNSSHP.

There are some hammocks, the further you go down the beach toward TTC is pretty quiet. The pool isn't necessarily quiet but it is nice to grab a drink at the bar and sit near the pool and watch the kids play. There is also a nice lounge outside Ohana where you can grab a drink and relax, very cozy seating there. And don't overlook just riding the monorail around, or even going over to explore Grand Floridian.

We are planning a day much like yours. Kona at 2:00 and MNSSHP in the evening. I think we will spend a little time in the volcano or quiet pool and also browse in the shops. I am usually a commando type, but am trying really hard to slow down and enjoy this trip which is our 26th weding anniversary and the first time at Poly. Have a good time!

Thanks to both of you! I appreciate the info.

Since we're not guests of the Poly we won't go to the pool. We'll probably hang out for a while at the Lounge or the beach, depending on the weather that day!

mickeymomtx - I can completely relate to fighting the urge to commando-ize the trip! I planned a very successful Disneyland trip last year with lots of commando action. I am trying my best to tone it down for WDW since there is so much more distance between things and it will be a lot hotter. Hopefully my plans have enough detail to them that we'll be able to do what we really want without wearing ourselved out!

You might enjoy taking the MK resort boats for a circuit or two...you get beautiful views of the resorts and it is a very refreshing break.

Our favorite place to relax is the Tambu Lounge. I recommend the Backscratcher. ;)

The beach between the Fiji bulding and Luau Cove is always quiet and off the beaten path. There's always chaise lounge chairs in the sand with a nice view of the WP, GF, and lagoon. :)

I second the idea to hang out at the beach area near luau cove. During our stay in May there usually was no one else even on the beach. Plenty of chairs and a very pretty view to GF and the castle. It was very relaxing.

There is a walkway to the GF so you could head over that way when it's time for you to go to MK and pick up the monorail at GF.

Enjoy your trip!

Peace, Colleen :flower3:

I'll add a 3rd thumbs up for the beach near Luau Cove - so pretty and the nice stroll to the GF where you could visit and catch the monorail. :)

The Beach near Luau Cove sounds like a winner! Is there much shade in that area? Since we'll be there in the late afternoon I don't want the heat to wear us out.

Thanks to all of you,
Jenny

My husband and I like to walk behind the Poly to the road going into Shades of Green and the Golf course. There is a pond on the right side and sometimes you can catch a glimpse of some gators...just small ones!

The walk to the GF is also a favourite. You can stop on the way to check out the Wedding Pavillion.

Have a great time!

Besides the palms, some of the chairs have those canopy-type things for shade.

Would this be a good place to watch the fireworks?
