We will be at WDW during our anniversary next month staying at CSR and I wanted to surprise DH with a nice gift basket to be delievered to our resort that I can sneak into our room. I took a a look at some of the gift baskets that the WDW florist puts together and while nice, I nearly died of shock at the prices :scared1:

I was wondering if anyone can suggest other florists or gift basket shops in the WDW area that are more reasonable and can put together some Disney themed items and deliver it to the CSR?

I am a fan of making the basket yourself and smuggling it in the luggage. All the more fun if you can pull one over on DH for a big surprise!

I just ordered one today for our trip from memoriesbybetsy.com for my son. I got him a Jedi stuffed mickey, a personalized name badge, and an autograph book and Mickey Pen with tax and delivery for under $60. She is also putting a card in there from "Mickey".

She's sending a picture of it before I have to pay for it.

I am smuggling in our own baskets.

I ordered a few things from disneyshopping.com and I'll pick up a few more things at the disney store before we leave.

If you plan on mailing it to the resort before hand, and you don't care if it's really a "basket" per-se...I saw some cute Mickey Mouse mailing boxes at the post office yesterday.

I agree, those baskets can get expense! I'm making my own this year for our family. I'm going to make my own custom candy bar wrappers, water bottle wrappers, autograph book for DD, some matching t-shirts for all, varied snacks, name badge for DD, fanny pack for DD, a stuffed character, etc. I'm going to mail to my hotel prior to arrival.

In the past years, I've pre-wrapped a gift for each night of our vacation and packed away in the suitcase. I would just pull one out every night and leave for DD from Tinkerbell or Mickey Mouse. I thought it would be easiest to just mail it all down ahead of time this year. :)

What a great idea! I've bought some little things for Tinkerbell gifts but never thought about wrapping them. I'll have to do that - that will give me something to do as I wait for the days to go by. 43 days as of today till the Poly and Disney. Love the wrappers idea too - you're very creative.

I agree those baskets are beautiful but they are so expensive. And w/3 kids - I think I'll stick to the Tinkerbelle gifts! May order something from disneyflorist for a welcome - something all 3 kids would enjoy.

Betsy's baskets cost just what the items inside cost + delivery and shopping fee of $25.00 for the first and $8.00 for subsequent baskets. You don't have to choose from a premade, but can put as much or little as you'd like.

How about making one yourself and mailing it to the resort ahead of time?

I really want to do this for a friend that is traveling in November. But how do I do it? I can mail it to the resort buy how does it get to my friend. Do they put it in her room? Do they just tell them they have a package? Any idea how I could get a simple package to them. I would like to just put three small plush toys and three autograph books for the kiddies. I am not that creative but will somehow manage to get them put together.

Memories By Betsy is currently putting together an anniversary basket for DH plus 3 smaller ones for my boys. She's been a delight to work with so far. Disney merch is expensive so sticker shock is hard to avoid, but she only charges what Disney does and the prep/handling/delivery fee is quite reasonable, IMO.

My DH is the expert packer so there was no way I could sneak one into the luggage!

it's actually $28 for the first one and $8 thereafter

Thank you! :goodvibes You will have such fun - making our own magic has made for some of my favorite memories of WDW! The DIS Board is FULL of super ideas. Have a wonderful trip!! :flower3:

I love looking at the different websites - their baskets are beautiful but I am so disappointed about them not being able to put food in the baskets. I know its not any fault of theirs but it played a role in changing my mind. I wanted to have a Halloween basket done for all 3 kids but whats the point w/no candy or rice krispie bars, etc. My kids don't need any more stuffed animals, and we do need autograph books but I'm letting the kids pick those out when we get there as we have a character meal shortly after arrival and I don't want to risk the basket not being there in time.

It looks like they do a wonderful job.

Okay, I'm a little confused why Peggy's site says she can't have prepackaged food items in the basket, but her example baskets have things like Dove bars in them?

It's to give you an idea of her work.

This is directly from her site:

Here are a few examples of my past work. As I make new baskets, I will upload additional pictures to my basket gallery. You will notice that many of my past baskets contained food items. Please remember that I can no longer include any type of food. These pictures are simply to give you an idea of my work.

I was disappointed about no food or water bottles in the baskets that I ordered. I just plan to take that in my checked luggage. I did order some snacks to the room for arrival.
