Try TJMAXX or Marshalls! They normally have brand names at great prices! Plus all their bags are on display so you can roll them around and test out the pocket sizes and zippers before buying!

I've had great luck with TJ Maxx and Marshalls! It has become our go-to place for luggage; I got a great deal on a large hard sided back last year on clearance. They usually have both sets or oddballs (we were looking for something "oddball-ish" to easily spot at the airport), but the prices are very reasonable.

Go with the Eddie Bauer one he likes! It will last, and if it doesn't, take it back to the store and they will replace it with the newer model. No receipt necessary, no questions asked. Good customer service is worth a lot.

I love TJ Maxx for luggage. I think they have good prices on quality brands. I got a great Samsonite set there last year.

I bought a nice Samsonite spinner at Marshall's in June for $54.00. The same bag was almost three times as much at other places.

Our AAA branch has really decent luggage for not-too-bad prices. We've taken the larger suitcase (24" maybe?) on about a dozen trips and the airlines haven't been able to demolish it yet!
