Good place for a 15 year old to work?

I think Cold Stone Creamery would be a fun place to work.

You could also check with your local YMCA

Have a great summer! :sunny:

In Ct. you must be 16 to work in anything other than farm work, which you can do at 14. Does your state have a minimum age requirement for work?

My 15 yr old cousin works at a pizza parlor and LOVES it.::yes::

Check out the local baseball and football staduims and put in for concessions stand worker. You can be a runner for a cashier. They have plenty of positions for 15 year old can do. Local amusement parks for concession stand workers and ride operator positions.

I know our minor league baseball team hires at 14 for some positions. Example some to run the speed pitch machine.

Chick Filet hires at 14! I was surprised at this. How about starting a lawn mowing service? You could weed, mow the lawn and do some general yard work for a reasonable price and make a ton of money.

You may get empoyment at hi-fi stores, such as Bang & Olufsen. I loved my year there!

My DD's 1st job was at a Lady Foot Locker, but only lasted 4 months, then they closed the one at our mall. She then got a job right away at a local Candy Store and is still there 3 /12 years later. She loves it.....I don't, if you know what I mean!!! ;)

I dunno about where you live, but in NY it's hard to find a retail job if you're not 18. YMCA also won't hire under 18.

If I were you, I'd see about doing busboy work at a pizzaria, or small restaurant (again, most chains won't hire under 16 or 18), but if you try a local neighborhood place, you should be good!

What about something like washing cars? Or as someone else said, concession stands at baseball feilds?

Some of the grovery stores here hire at 14 & 15 for baggers.

The movie theatre. That was my first job, it was really fun and I made a lot of friends. Also got to see all the movies for free, free popcorn and soft drinks.

My grocery store hires cashiers at 15. But the closest we come to you is Erie. I'm sure there are stores in your area that will hire a 15 year old.

My first job was at Kentucky Fried Chicken. It was fun to get the free food. At night sometimes we would make more than was really needed so we ended up taking buckets of chicken, tons of mashed potatoes and gravey home. Yummy ..I just made myself hungey.

No advice for now, but I would definitely suggest she look into waiting tables next year. If she gets into the right restaurant (and in a lot you need to be 18) she could make upward to $200 a night. Something to think about next year though. I think she'd enjoy the work at her age too.

Ditto on the movie theater suggestion! It was my first job too! I eventually went back as a manager!

Like others have said, I don't know what the minimum age in your state to work is...but there are many things you could look into.

camp counceler (or counceler in training - CIT's)
grocery bagger

or

check the wanted ads...maybe some mom's are looking for baby sitting during the summer...or pet sitting.

I worked at an insurance company when I was 15...putting their files away, recoding them, ETC...wasn't bad. After that, I needed something with 'more people' around...I started working at Taco Bell when I was 16.5 or 17...worked there until I was 22 (they took me back on my college breaks - it was decent money at least!)

best of luck to you!

Around here the local amusement park (Valley Faire) hires 15 YO's for some jobs.
