I want to break up my drive home in October with a good place to sleep and shop the next day. Anyone have any suggestions or favorites. I thought this would help break up the trip and give me a head start on Christmas shopping.

In Valdosta there is a great outlet mall down around exit 18 in that area on your way home it will be on the right hand side of the highway. We stop at Exit 18 on the way down at the Fairfield Inn and with a coupon from roomsavers it is about 42 dollars a night with complimentary continental breakfast. Hope this helps.

Thanks Darren- exactly the kind of info I was looking for.

Not a problem hope it helps and good shopping to you.

I went to Potomac Mills many years ago ... I believe it was about 30-40 minutes south of Washington. It seemed like a pretty huge outlet. This is their website http://www.potomacmills.com

Don't know which way your driving but Pigeon Forge, TN has about a half a dozen outlet malls. It's about a 45 minute drive though from the I-75/I-40 join up spot at around Exit 108 on I-75.

In 1998 we drove home up through the Carolina's and then came through Ashville to Pigeon Forge.

When we were last there in 2001 they had a Disney Store outlet as well as some high end stores and of course all the standby's. I don't have a website but I'm sure there are plenty out there. There is also many hotels there to choose from.

We love it there. In October all the trees are changing in the mountains and it is quite beautiful.
