Our DS has really been wanting to go to Sci-Fi. We've begged off due to bad reviews, however, this time we are willing to take the plunge -- for burgers at least.

We will be on the DDP. We are thinking of paying OOP for Sci Fi one day, since we will just be getting burgers and then saving the TS for something else.

Is this a good idea?

I hope so because it's exactly what I'm doing. I had original scheduled as a TS but then wanted to add another on our last day so since Sci-Fi was the least expensive meal I had planned, I decided to pay OOP for it.

Love, love, LOVE the cheeseburger, onion rings and chocolate shakes! I have heard here on the DIS that even though the Cheeseburger isn't on the dinner menu, you can still get it during dinner hours - I hope this is true.

This is a great plan if it is the least expensive sit down meal you plan on eatting. Otherwise, I would plan on paying for the least expensive out of pocket.

My DD, 14, loves Sci Fi. :cool1: Sure it is just burgers, but the atmosphere and the experience is worth the cost of the meal.

Enjoy it!

Funny enough that is what we plan on doing! We'll only have 3 TS credits so we want to maximize those, but Sci Fi is a must for one of the people coming with us. We figure we'll do lunch there and pay OOP.

My DD6 and DH used their TS and I just had a water and soup. DD6 got so much food I shared with her. :rotfl2:
We did this at another restaurant also so we could try more restaurants. It let us try Boma while DD6 was in Simba's Club. :cool1:
Have fun! :cheer2:

We have one too many table services, so we have to pay for one out of pocket. We figured that it was either going to be Sci-Fi for lunch or Chef Mickeys at breakfast. When we added up the Sci-Fi total it came out higher than we expected, so we will pay for CM. Take a look at the menus and add up everything..dont forget drink and tax, tip...it was quite suprising how much onion rings, a burger and shakes ended up being.

Good point... I'll have to recalculate.

I plan on doing the exact same, DW and I will split an Onion Ring, a Chicken Sandwhich, and a shake, with Water for lunch, and save our TS credits till later, but still get a good experience of seeing what the place is like.

If we do Sci Fi this year, this is exactly what I planned on doing! We'll be a group of 3 A and 1K. The last time my DM and I ate there was for dessert, about 7 years ago. We were disappointed in our sundaes (soft serve with hot fudge) and so we haven't been back, though I thought the atmosphere was great! Now that my DD is going to be almost 8, I think she would get a kick out of eating in the cars. I figure 2 meals split between us will be plenty of food. If not, we can always grab some CS or Snack somewhere else. :goodvibes

we plan to pay OOP at sci-fi - saving DDP credits for other restaurants (like 50s, coral reef, brown derby)

I did the calculations and it would still be our least expensive TS by at least $12. OOP it is for Sci-Fi.

Our kids love the atmosphere. It is worth it just for the experience once any way.

We are heading back in Sept to do it again.

We're paying oop for Donald's Breakfastosaurus and Rose and Crown. We're doing HDDR for 2 credits and figure those combined will be cheaper, esp considering we'll drink adult beverages at R&C.
