Talking with family about Disney trips from years gone by... I remember CoP - well, it's still there, but never open when I go now!

Does anyone remember Mission to Mars? There was another ride... Think it's now Buzz Lightyear. 'I wish I could Fly' - sounds more Orville-ian than Orwellian. I know that's not the name, but none of us could remember! This would have been in '84/'85?

The Skyway cable cars? I hated them.

Over in Epcot we all remembered Horizons, but all got confused about what it was inside! The only thing we could agree on was the end bit, where you got to vote about the last section of the ride (underwater, space or another??)

Still in Epcot - The GM Sponsored attaction... World of Motion?

I would happily trade IASW for CoP... or Horizons.

Horizons, World Of Motion and the original Journey Into Imagination - gone but not forgotten!

My fave part of Horizons was when you were faced with millions of stars and the music that accompanied it! The ride lasted quite a long time didn't it? It had scenes depicting the "next century" - space communites etc and it also had a historical view of what people foresaw for the future.

It was dated however, and was always empty and so I can understand that unless they were going to overhaul it, they had no alternative but for it to go.

I have a CD or two with the music from those attractions :)

The attraction where Buzz used to be was "Take Flight" - a sort of fun history of flight. It always seemed that it should have been in EPCOT rather than MK.

Two others you may remember - 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Mr Toad's Wild Ride?

20,000 Leagues - I had forgotten about that one... I think its now a character meeting point? Why did they close it? I heard rumours that it was leaking into a storage are below?

I am surprised that disney haven't recycled it as an 'Atlantis' or 'Finding Nemo' attraction...

According to one of the past Unofficial Guides (Bob Sehlinger), they closed 20,000 Leagues for a rehab, then there was a difference of opinion about the fate of the attraction. Whilst they argued about it, they left the subs in the water and they deteriorated badly and so that sealed the attraction's fate.

Each sub needed a CM just like Jungle Cruise and we had a great 'Captain' when we rode but the plastic squid was laughable and they definitely needed to do some work on the underwater 'world' .

They have Ariel's Grotto adjacent to the old ride, but it would be great if they introduced another water ride there.

Wow!

Captain EO was brilliant, I can remember going into it twice in a row leaving my poor old Dad standing outside wondering where I was - lol.

"We are here to change the world"

Captain EO - Was that the one that featured Michael Jackson?

I cannot remember anything about it! I recall it being in Epcot? What replaced it?

I remember the first time I went on 20,000 leagues under the sea, I was 8 and I was so scared that we were going under the sea ! I remember my mom and dad telling me that it was ok and not to worry. I didn't realise that we were really only a foot under the water! ha ha

What great times!

Go2209,

Yup, Captain EO was the one with Michael Jackson. It was replaced by Honey I Shrunk The Audience.

Captain EO was great, i loved the music and the 3d effects.
