Good Novels

Steve Berry and Vince Flynn come to mind.

I also read several books that were free on Kindle a while ago by an author named Andrew Britton. They were very good. They were called...The American, The Assasin, The Exile.

The Patricia Cornwell books regarding the "Kay Scarpetta" series are very good!

i'll second patricia cornwell. LOVE the scarpetta books! you might also enjoy kathy reichs (the TV series "bones" is loosely based upon her books).

Daniel Silva comes to mind.

I'm pretty hit or miss on Steve Berry's novels -- Cotton Malone series is all right.

Some of the earlier James Patterson series books are good -- now he's just putting them through a fiction mill, but I've enjoyed the early ones.

I really like the Harlan Coben mysteries. He has a series about a sports agent and a number of unrelated books. I've also started getting into the different series of books by Clive Cussler.

The Dirk Pitt Clive Cussler novels are a home run around here.

If you haven't read THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett, you MUST.

Also, try any of these:

The Stieg Larssen books, while they start slow and have a walk on the dark side, keep me riveted to the end.

Suzanne Collins' HUNGER GAMES trilogy -- LOVED

Carl Hiaasen's newest: STAR ISLAND

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS

I could go on and on and on...

Pillars of the Earth and World Without End by Ken Follett are two of my all time favorites.

I second the previous poster who recommended The Help. AWESOME book!!!

I like all those, even if they ARE formulaic. They're as predictable as the old James Bond movies.

I like Dan Brown (currently reading the Lost Symbol), as well as Jim Butcher, specifically the Dresden books.

These are very good, yes.

However, closer to the Dan Brown experience, for me, was The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I did not enjoy her follow-up, The Swan Thieves, though.

Anything by Dennis Lahane ( Shutter Island, Mystic River, Gone Baby, Gone)

Try Andy McDermott - The Series starts with Atlantis and is up to about 6 novels now I think. He's a British author and I love reading books with British spellings.

THE HUNT FOR ATLANTIS
Published in the UK by Headline
1 November 2007 (hardback, trade paperback)
12 June 2008 (paperback, audio)
Published in the US & Canada by Bantam Dell
29 September 2009 (mass market paperback)

Archaeologist Nina Wilde believes she knows how to find the lost civilisation of Atlantis. She wants to prove her theory. But the sinister Giovanni Qobras wants her dead!

Accompanied by beautiful heiress Kari Frost and ex-SAS bodyguard Eddie Chase, Nina begins a breakneck race around the world to find the clues that will lead to the legendary city, pursued at every step by the agents of the mysterious - and murderous - Brotherhood of Selasphoros. For Atlantis holds a secret hidden for over 11,000 years that in the wrong hands could destroy civilisation as we know it...

My husband and kids read them as well as Dan Brown, Robert Ludlum and a few others.

i just looked up this elizabeth kostova book, and i'll definitely be putting it on my list! thank you!

He's good. Look up Lisa Scotoline's books. They are like Grisham's, only better. I read one of the books by Kathy Reichs - about a forensic anthropologist who helps solve crimes (they are the books that the TV show Bones is based on).

I love these threads-I am stocking up my Nook Wish List with the suggestions!!

I also suggest the Vince Flynn books. He lives in a neighboring town so I always suggest his books-that and I like his books :lmao:.
