'Toy Story 3' Scrapped

Pixar and Disney have announced they have cancelled plans to make a third installment of the popular Toy Story movies. Studio executives decided the script wasn't up to the standard the previous movies had set and didn't want to make the film with a less than stellar storyline, according to Moviehole.net. The third installment would have featured animated toy astronaut Buzz Lightyear getting recalled to Taiwan after a series of malfunctions.

well that's good news, i was worried when they said they were making a third movie. disney already has too many sequals that just aren't too great, i didn't want them to do it to toy story too.

The good news is that they cancelled it because of a weak script.

There would have been no squak from me if they'd put another excellent TS movie on the shelf after all, there are a lot of folks who feel TS2 was better than the original.

I think if Pixar had been making TS3, that would be a valid point. After all, they have said and are still saying that they'll make sequels only if they have a compelling story to tell, and they are 1 for 1 on delivering.

Since the TS3 that was being made was not being made by the Pixar people, and instead was being made by a company that does not share the same philosophy with regard to sequels, I think we can give this move an unqualified thumbs up.

Its hardly a leap (or even a lean) to assume the script was never going to be up to Lasseter's standards.

Whether it's a leap or not the point WAS still valid. If the TS3 script had been great it should have been made...It wasn't so it's been scrapped and that's good news and the only relevent point, IMO.

Lets hope with this merger with Pixar and Disney that the movies they put out aren't affected....
