Good News!! Photopass has arrived at DCA!

My family was there this past Sunday night for the Halloween Treat party. We got 4 pics taken and put on our photopass. We were told that we could come back to DCA the next day and purchase our photos to avoid the rush at the end of the night, as long as we had park admission to get in the next day. We went in the next morning and purchased our pictures with no problem. So you are able to buy the pics on another day. It is still only available at DCA but should be both parks by November 1.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that photopass and photomovie will be available and online for my (hopefully) upcomming trip in December. On our last trip to WDW, I did not buy the CD, but the photomovie, which my son ADORES!!! And it held 150 of our pictures, plus pictures of our hotel and the parks for $49.00. My ds now thinks he is a moviestar :teeth:

What is photomovie?

ok...let me get this straight...you purchase a photopass (credit card type card), and whenever you run into a photographer, he/she takes your pix, and you give your card to him/her, they scan your card, which adds your pix onto the card. you take as much pix as you want, scan them into your card. and at the end of the day (or whenever), you take your card to the picture place/store, and turn in your card for a cd for $99. did i get it right? and after you take the cd home, you can basically take it to costco (or wherever), and have them print out the pix for very cheap. is this what photopass does? thank you! :flower:

Does anyone know if you can have pics that were taken on the rides also added to the CD?

Kathy

This is so cool!! I've heard so much about WDW's version of PhotoPass so I can't wait to use it at the DLR. Hopefully it'll be fully up and running (Internet and everything) by our next trip in 2008!! ;)

You do not purchase the card, they give it to you for free. You can then look at all of your pictures at the end of your trip at one time.

I was told that this option is not available.

Maybe I'm a little confused...? I thought if you bought a Photopass, you were essentially pre-paying $99 for as many photos as you could fit on a CD. Is that wrong? The rest of what you describe sounded like I expected, that you can order individual prints (of various sizes) from the internet.

Am I confusing 2 different things? I thought the Photopass was the pre-paid CD of photos, but maybe it's just an electronic way of tracking the photo ID numbers?

At WDW, You don't pre pay. You get a card from the photographer and he/she scans it after taking your pics. Then on the last day of your trip you go to the photo place and look em over. The Pics aren't stored on the camera. They have wireless units on and they are uploaded instantly. If they're in a dead spot where they cannot upload or where the system is down, they will store them and it will upload as soon as it can. The card is nothing more than a control number. They are working on integrating the ride photos in. They are trying it out at Test Track in Epcot. You simply slide the card in and your pic gets beamed right to your account. You don't have to pay for it yet either. Nor is their obligation to buy.

You can order prints right there too if you want.

At WDW, they're trying to get more photographers. Right now it's pretty much Castle, Golf Ball, Hat, Tree type shots with not all that many wandering Photopass folk. They also have them at the character connection and at Tunetown. They did not have them at Camp Minnie Mickey, nor at any of the other character places in the parks. But the plan is to get them there and have a few wandering around taking candids.

I wasn't told this but I believe once they have it worked out that CD won't be $99 any more. I think it's an incredible deal as it is and even more so if they expand the program.
