Good News out about Disneyland

Well, my comments about DCA are meant to bring us to some middle ground on this park. I did refrain from commenting on the remainder of the park because I do agree with all the comments which rightfully address how it needs some major attraction improvement.

However, Matt, you being a native of the state, gives me some promise that other natives also enjoy this park. Just how many that is remains a big question. But thier embrace of this park is really what will be vital to its' future success. And it may come from future generations not so stalwart in thier Disneyitis that they've become self-proclaimed prophets on a bullheaded deluded standard of achievement to govern every single attraction offering this company has to provide.

I think my problem with DCA was that I made an assumption (right or wrong), that this park would be of that caliber you describe - right in line with what Walt Disney has set as the backdrop for what a themepark should and has historically been built as.

Let's face it - This park was (in my view) being constructed to compliment the original so I automatically had great expectations regarding the long awaited second Anaheim park and the locals had to have had even bigger eyes than mine in anticipation of this unveiling.

I can see why it fell flat on it's face when it opened. I remember seeing highlights of the park from clips of the Rosie O'Donnell show and thinking - well there must be more spectacular hidden gems in there somewhere. Of course that never materialized and the visuals remained a big deterant in my view - enough to subjectively keep me from even considering a visit.

If the local press was anything like I'd anticipate - they had to have trashed it. Add in all of ABC's media enemies and Disney's Hollywood foes and we've got an enormous crippling surge of bad publicity. This park didn't stand a chance and Disney should have realized way before it opened that they were delivering the wrong packaging.

I use the phase packaging because I don't think the attractions in this park are the problem with the exception of those already highlighted - which can be easily fixed in my view as well.

Matt, I recommend you attend the Aladdin show and let me know your impression. I sat in the first row of the upper mezzanine and was blown away. Knowing how intricate and involved theatre is (with broadway in my backyard), I can't compliment this production enough - the talent alone was excellent. Well worth my time and effort. I really feel the company would greatly benefit from a production theatre like that in FL at the Studios.

Viking - I didn't find as much attraction wise at AK. I think both are improving and look forward to E:E.
