Im curious to know what you consider to be a good neighborhood hotel?
I have heard good things about HOJO. But i am surprised i havent ever heard anything (good or bad) about the Anaheim Plaza hotel.

We stayed at the APH a few weeks ago. Overall it was a good stay for the money, and was less then a 10min walk to the resort. Beds were hard (not REALLY hard, but hard), no free continental breakfast, and rooms were almost humid feeling. But the staff was very friendly and the price was good, i believe we paid $69 per night.

Also, what hotels give a AP discount? & what is rate for that? Thanks!

To me, a good neighbor hotel is one that has entered into a contract with Disney to be booked through Disney. It has nothing to do with quality, price or location.

For AP discounts, it can vary how much or when available.
Onsite of course

Also

Desert Palms
Annabella
Hojo
Candy Cane Inn
Desert Inn and Suites

There are others too I just can't think of them at this time.

I talk about hotels I have experience with when people ask about them. I've talked about the HoJo, the Peacock, the GCH, the PPH, the AP. I like the AP, it has great rates, it's close and it's a nice enough place to stay, that's basically my review, with a small warning that both times we've stayed there we've had weird water pressure/temp and I've been frozen and scalded alternately.

SAME thing happened to us! water burnt us more then once.

I have stayed at the Anahiem Plaza twice and would stay again. It is older but the property is nice and great price/location/pool....wish they had breakfast thou.

To me the breakfast is missing compared to other places, but the Anahiem Plaza is basically the closest and cheapest to the gates.

If the rates are low I'd stay there again. It's a very old building with a strange layout, and the rooms are old styled but not too worn. The delux rooms are much nicer and new looking but still in the old buildings. It has a huge pool if you like to swim. Very nice well kept grounds, more than enough parking. The bus tours can pull right in front of this hotel unlike most. Also I found the staff, from the front desk to the gardeners to all be very friendly.

How about the Holiday Inn & Suites Anaheim on South Walnut Street?
