Im going to make this post sweet and short. PLEASE HELP ME PICK ONE! I have a family of 6 or 8 (if my two step sons can make it) so any Suites. Please give me all and any unput you can give me about your experiences. This is our frist trip and Im clueless.

Thank you in advance. :thumbsup2

There are a lots choose from so please do not take what I say here as my recommendation as the best of all options. Rather I am just giving you ideas.

My philosophy is based on this thread: "HydroGuy's Hotel Rule" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199862 and hence I have a strong bias towards walking distance hotels. That really means the Harbor good neighbors or the Disney hotels.

We have six in our family and have done the Best Western Park Place Inn mini-suites. Two queens and a roll-out queen sleeps six. And it is the closest hotel. If you have six people it will work.

I have never stayed at the Desert Inn but undertstand they do have suites that can sleep eight. So check with them.

Last summer I was leaning towards the Residence Inn which is more like 3/4 of a mile from the DLR park gates but has a kitchen and suites with 2-3 bedrooms that can handle eight people. The kitchen in particular may allow you to save some money on meals. While we have stayed at RIs in other places, never at Disney.

Thank you. I have looked into the Desert Palm suites and did like it. I am also biased on walking distance. We're not renting a car for our stay at DL only to stay in the Legoland area. Which I need help with that too.

Another I looked into and liked for its kitchen size was the Staybrige Suites which states its about 1 mile away, which I guess we can take the ART system. Thank you thus far and keep it coming. :)

Can anyone lend information re: kitchens. I don't plan on making big meals but if there is a hotel that offers kitchen space or tables for kids to sit and eat would be a great added bonus. So far I like the set-up @ the Staybrige Suites.

we have stayed at the staybridge about 4 years ago and will be there again jan21-28th. a 2 bedroom suite suit has a kitchen area with a small table If I remember correctly it only seats 4. there is another thread going that has another member who also has stayed there they might have more current info. We really enjoyed our stay last time, we used the kitchen a few times to make quick meals for the kids (mac and cheese ect.) the breakfast good as well!

Do you know if any of the Suites hotels allow you to park 2 cars. I was looking at one (Staybridge I believe) that said only one car per room or Suite on Expedia (but didn't mention that on their website, so I was a bit confused. All their website said was "Limited Parking". My sister's BF is thinking about coming (bringing our group to 8), but would be driving separately. So, I have no idea what we would do with his car if he wasn't allowed to park at the hotel.

Twice we have stayed in the Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites. We have not stayed there since roughly 2.5 years ago.
Last time we had a Parlor Suite A and were very happy with the layout.

We plan to visit the area again this Fall and will stay somewhere else. But that is due to DH having points for a free stay in a chain. Otherwise we would probably return to the Desert Inn.

One plus about the Desert Inn is it was/is the tallest hotel around DL, and had a nice rooftop view overlooking towards DL.

We just got home from the Desert Inn & Suites. We had a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom suite with a sitting room. It was a decent size and could accomodate up to 10 people (I think that would have been super cramped!). There is no kitchen space though. Appliances include a mini fridge and a small coffee maker. If the kitchen is most important to you, DI & S is not the place for you. As for walking distance, it can NOT be beat! We were there in the torrential downpour and every time we went back to rest, we were so happy we'd booked there!

Thank you so much ladies for your replies. You are a major help to my planning. :thumbsup2

I love the Desert Inn and Suites. For me, the most important thing, is having a suite (ie a living room with pull out couch separated by a wall and door from the bedroom space) because my parents snore *loudly* it's like a symphony of snoring... I can't sleep with hearing that. So I like to have my own sleeping space. I hate that the Disneyland Hotels, even the expensive ones (like the Grand Californian) do not have the option of suites. If I'm gonna shell out that much for a hotel, I would think that there should be suites as well. So we usually look off site for hotels (which are also cheaper, which means more spending money for buying souvenirs!). I did have to use ear plugs because the room we were in, the wall had a fan to help circulate the A/C or Heater, so sound could travel thru that, but with my ear plugs in and the wall and door separating, I could sleep like a baby and the pull out couch is surprisingly comfortable. Also, because my dad has joint problems and my mom has bad knees and I have a bad knee (I fell down a set of stairs in my college theatre, off an 8 ft. platform face first... lol) so we all rented ECV Scooters from Alan's Wheelchairs and Medical Products.

That was by far the most enjoyable way to experience Disneyland. Because it was an off-site scooter rental, we could keep (and plug in to charge over night) the scooters in the hotel lobby (they were totally okay with it, I think we even moved some chairs around to fit them in and they were fine with it). Then in the morning, we'd walk down to the lobby, hop on our scooters, then drive them across the street and straight into the park! Also because it was an off site company, we didn't have to turn them in at night, and if we went from DL to DCA we just kept our scooters and rode them around. If you rent a scooter from DL there is a deposit required each day, and if you want to go from DL to DCA or vica versa, you have to turn in the DL scooter and rent one from DCA or vica versa.

We did the math, and at $35/day + deposit with DL scooter rental vs renting off site at Alan's for the entire week, plus the benefit of keeping them at the hotel and being able to ride them to DL and back to the hotel at night, and not having the hassle of changing from park to park... it was cheaper to rent from Alan's. (Also if you have a scooter, you get to go in the rides via the 'wheelchair' entrance which is usually the exit... except for the Indiana Jones Ride... you go in normal and then the line divides and a CM guides you to a set of elevators... which is super fun!)

I stayed at the Roadway Inn which was about a mile away from the park.. we had no problem walking to and from the park.. the hotel itself was pretty average, but spent most of the time at Disneyland anyways :)

We have stayed at the RI Maingate and it is about 1/2 mile from the entrance and an easy walk. They have full kitchens in some of the suites, hot breakfast and managers specials at night. It was always full when we were there and never really had a problem of any sort.
