I was wondering which of the Good Neighbor Hotels are closest to the gates and within walking distance?

I'm trying to see if I can budget in a trip this October... so the ones offering 4th night free would be great. :teeth: But I don't know exactly where they all are... I've only been to DL once.

The Best Western Park Place Inn is at the crosswalk over to the parks. Also right near by is The trompicana, The Park Inn, The Desert Inn and Suits, The Howard Johnson, The Best Western Anaheim Inn.
Here is a map of the area.

daannzzz -- just laughing at trompicana ;)

Out of the choices daannzzz gave, I like the Howard Johnson, Park Inn, Tropicana - not the BW Anaheim Inn (sorry)

Also, there is the BW Park Place Inn, Carousel Inn, and Ramada Inn Maingate. The BWPPI has the best continental breakfast of these, I think (I don't know for fact), and a lot of people like the fact that you eat in the breakfast room at the Carousel Inn & overlook the parks.

Where is the crosswalk across Harbor to the parks? If I walk from HoJo, can I walk on the DL side and have a shorter walk?

Is the Hilton a good neighbor hotel and is it a good hilton?

We were not very fond of the Hilton in DTD...but I was coming off of my high of seeing the Hilton Hawaiian village which is super duper nice (IMHO).

Here is a different map with some recommendations by "Bret".

We are staying at the BWPPI across the street in August.

We stayed at HoJo two years ago. You can walk on either side of Harbor. There is a cross-walk out in front of HoJo, or the main one directly across from the DLR entrance. The distance from HoJo along either is the same.

It all looks so close on a map, but when we did it the extra five-minute walk up to the DLR entrance along Harbor took its toll. So we decided to go for BW this year across the street. It is not as nice as HoJo, but we will only use it for sleeping.

We just returned from our stay at the Tropicana Inn June 26 thru July 2. I cant say enough about how great the location was. It was nice to see the hotel so close after a long day at DL. We had a great stay here. Will stay here again !!!

We just got back from the Ramada Maingate.. It was really nice, clean, and only about a 5 minute or so walk to the parks!

We have always found the Candy Cane Inn to be the closest because it is on the same side of Harbour Blvd. It's a great place. We always stay there when visiting the park.

Any one out there that has stayed at the Fairfield Inn accross from Disneyland, is it a very far walk and is it very nice.

Thanks everyone!!!

I have my AAA agent checking out all the rates for me. :teeth:

I hope I can pull this off.... it would be a great birthday for both of us... :cool1: (Oct 19th & mine Oct 22nd)

I'm getting ready for my first trip to DL....but my reseach here gave pretty good feedback on the Candy Cane - that's where I'll be staying....I recommended Candy Cane to a friend of mine who recently visited with her family and she was THRILLED with it....for location....continental breakfast....transport to the parks (if one is weary at day's end) - MOSTLY she said the MATRESSES were AMAZING - she slept like she was at home....ALSO important after a long day at the parks! I CAN'T WAIT!!!! :jumping1:

We have pretty much everything set for our trip in October. :teeth:

We got a pretty good rate at the Carousel Inn and after hours of arguing with US Air, they finally got us seats on a flight using some transportation vouchers that were given to us by my mom. Actually she has to go to the airport and sign the vouchers over, but it sure beats $600 in airline tickets for the 2 of us.

I checked out the Candy Cane and it sounded nice too. But I'm on a tight budget for this trip and with the rate at the Carousel and the walk-over being right there... I jumped on it.

Have a great trip! At least you only have 11 days to wait... we are still in the 80's...

I just came back from staying at Howard Johnson's yesterday. Carousel is roughly half way between HoJos and the parks. I see from your tag that you're probably familiar with OKW. Howard Johnson's to the parks is like Southpoint bus stop to HH, if that far. And Carousel is only 1/2 that distance.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn (next door to the Howard Johnson's) in 1998, and it was fine - if you don't mind outdoor corridors. Since then, I have become a HUGE fan of using Priceline, and I stayed at what is now the Coast Anaheim (near the Convention Center) in 2000, and the Hyatt Regency Orange County (a mile down the road in Garden Grove) in 2003. I will be at Disneyland for 3 nights in March with my 2 daughters, and I have a reservation at the Sheraton Anaheim.

My DH and I always stay at the Park Inn. It is clean, comfortable, quiet, and right across the street. I would recommend it.
