Good Neighbor Hotels, when can I book for 2022?

I have the HOJO booked with Booking.com but I'm thinking I might book a package with Disney with hotel and tickets instead so I can get the travel protection as coming from the UK who knows might what happen with Covid. I notice loads of the Good Neighbor Hotels, especially the ones I'm interested in, aren't available at all in 2022 on the Disney website but are available up until the end of 2021. When do they normally appear on the website to book? Do I need to wait until 2022 to book? If so that no issue as I wasn't planning on paying out on park tickets until everything was a little clearer as we are allowed to come from the UK yet anyway.

Sorry also can anyone clarify if the Disney travel protection plan will cover the cost of park tickets as well as accommodation if we have to cancel?

It might be best to wait until things are clarified a bit more in terms of travel between the US and UK. We're in the same boat too, unfortunately. Hopefully once a suitable date is given prices shouldn't rise by too much.

If you're going with a Good Neighbor Hotel, just book a refundable rate on the hotel's website. Every major hotel chain has refundable rates that let you cancel between 1 and 3 days in advance for any reason and it's relatively painless to cancel and get your money back. Going through an online travel agent like booking.com complicates the process and puts you at greater risk of not being able to get a refund. Going through Disney seems even worse as they have very detailed terms and conditions on the circumstances in which you can get your money back.

You can book most good neighbor hotels right now through their website. I find booking through Disney way too restrictive and don't recommend it.

Getting a park ticket refunded will be the most difficult part so just wait till closer to your travel dates to buy those unless you are going on dates where reservation availability will be a problem. Again, it'll be very hard to get Disney to refund this but you can usually apply the value of your unused tickets to future tickets of greater value.

If you are buying plane tickets with a bad refund policy, then it may be worth buying third party travel insurance that covers COVID for your plane tickets and park tickets. I wouldn't go with Disney's travel protection plan.

Good news - the ban on US/EU & UK travel is being rescinded as of November, so hopefully some DIS members from the UK can make the trip at last :)

I know it’s fantastic news.:) So pleased I’d already booked my flights as prices are going to be crazy!

I just read that as well for fully vaccinated passengers.
