I've been reading a bit about the GMFB on here, but all the posts seem older. Am I right in thinking that you get into the park earlier if you go for the GMFB? Is that even before EMH?

We go on 5th June, do you think we're likely to be able to book it when we check in?

Hi no you cant get in early than EMH. before they started EMH earliest breakfast starts about the same time - 8.00.

You cant book it in advance now - only when you check in but you need to ask about it at check in as they dont always tell you. There may or may not be availibility as they only have so many slots per day.
When we have GMF we like to book a late time slot so we can do some EMH first while its very quiet then go for a leisurely bfast.

Can I be cheeky and ask more about this?

I take it, this replaces your normal breakfast in your disney hotel? Where is it held and how much extra does it cost?

Ooh, yes good question - I'd be quite interested in doing this one day - is it wierd for a grown up couple to do?

Yes i does replace your normal breakfast, its held in one of the restaurants in fantasyland-its changes(when we went it was toad hall) and no u dont pay extra for this,

No at all its jst eating breakie in one of the parks restaurants

Thanks for all the responses. All the posts I could find to read about it were old which I guess is why I thought you got in earlier, sounds like they used to do it that way.

So I take it you can book all different times now? Does anyone know what the latest time is that you can have breakfast?

Cool, I'll think about doing it. Although I don't know if I'm better sticking to a 7am breakfast at hotel and then getting to the park for the whole EMH.

Any clues when breakfast is open till in the disney hotels? Is it past 10am? SO could we do EMH and then come back for breakfast?

Having looked on the Disneyland website, and also thinking rationally about it, I'd imagine it’s only offered until park opening times, so that they can start getting paying customers in from the get-go.

Hmmmm so really we'd be aswell just having an early slot for breakfast at the hotel and hitting the parks at 8am for EMH.

Unless like torsie suggested, you could go back to the hotel for breakfast after EMH? Although, from what I've heard the parks are generally quieter in the morning, so I think it would probably be better to make the most of that and just have brekkie before going. Hmmmm decisions, decisions :rotfl:

As I mentioned before we booked GMF for about 9.30/9.45. We got in for EMH at 8.00 and did everything we wanted to do (not all rides are open) riding most rides more than once then went for breakfast. Its amazing how an hour of rides builds up the appetite. I know I couldnt manage a 7.00 breakfast - on the days we didnt do GMF I sent DH infor breakfast on his own with instructions to bring a croissant or pain au chocolat for me for later.
As we were finishing breakfast they were clearing it away so I assume it finishes about 10.00 as the park opens fully.
The first hr of EMH is quietest - after 9.00 its starting to get busier I assume mainly with people who've done an early GMF so if you are going to do it Id recommend a later time slot if possible

GMFB's used to be the only means of getting into the park before it's scheduled opening time but only certain Fantasyland attractions would be open. We would use it just for getting into the park early to get Fantasyland done before the crowds hit it.
The breakfast is of the same standard as that at the Cheyenne, so if you're staying at Sequoia Lodge, you're downgrading a little, there isn't as much choice of fruit juices, plastic knives, forks and paper plates, it's a bit of a bun fight really too. IMHO
With EMH we've found it easier to have an early breakfast around 7.00 - 7.15the hotel restaurants are quiet then and even if you've been allocated a later breakfast slot, you're not going to have a problem getting in. If you can be at the park at opening time then 8.00 with EMH, you've 2 full hours before the crowds hit, when the park is busy these 2 hours are worth their weight in gold.
If you're not going to breakfast early at the hotel then try and choose the latest GMFB time which I think is 9.45am that way you'll still have had almost 2 hours to enjoy the park. :goodvibes

Is it really that much quieter that you can get all the open rides done in an hour? I assumed because there would be a good few thousand people staying in the resort that they would all be taking advantage of the EMH and be there at 8am??? I guess this isn't the case after all. What strange people!! I have to admit the EMH is one of the main reasons we decided to stay at the resort.

I suppose if we can book it for 9.45am it might be pretty good, but to be honest, my kids are very early risers anyway. DD2 is usually up at 5-5.30am and I'm assuming as we're all in the same room that she'll have the other 2 up at that time as well, so breakfast in the hotel at 7am is do-able I think.

We're staying at the Cheyenne anyway, so I don't suppose there will be much difference to the actual food we get.

We are planning to be at the gates for 8am :) we'll definitely be making the most of the whole 2 EMH, I really don't understand why anyone wouldn't

It seems to get busier towards 9.00 but the first hr is much quieter.
Our normal first hr is to do Peter Pan (3 or 4 times in a row) then Dumbo usually twice, then the Carrousel and tea cups then either Pinochio or Snow White whichever is open. We then head to Discoveryland where we do Buzz usually at least twice. Space Mountain is also open but we dont ride this and Orbitron also is open. Im not too keen on this as I feel as though Im falling out so dont always ride this. After Buzz we usually head back to Fantasyland to go on something else again or get a good position in the queue to meet the Princesses or to get into Adventureland or Frontierland at rope drop.

We love walking past Peter Pan later in the day and seeing the 90 minute sign knowing we did it 4 times in a row earlier in the day, same with Dumbo.

Me neither, but that's also why we don't have a GMFB anymore as I wouldn't want to waste a minute of those 2 hours.
Although to be perfectly honest as the days go on it does get more and more of a struggle to get out of bed at 6.30 ;)
I seem to remember someone saying they had booked GMFB's and then decided to have breakfast at the hotel and it wasn't a problem so see what you can get when you check in, you've nothing to lose, if you change your mind :)

Mmm, I think I’m going to stick to my original morning plan:

7am Breakfast, at the gates for 8. EMH it to the max, then get on BTM and PM while it’s quiet I think POTC will need a daily visit also.

Basically I’m going to wear myself out in the mornings and head back to the pool for a few hours early afternoon. The breakfast would be fun, but it’s going to be mega busy when we go so I’ll makes the most of early mornings.

Sounds like a good plan hun :goodvibes

That's good to know that we can always change our mind. I might just book the GMFB for the whole time we're there, at least then we've got an option ;)

I did wonder about it being harder to get up as the week goes on. My kids might be early risers here, but I'm sure they'll be different after a few days of 11 hours non stop Disney-ing :goodvibes

I guess that's a good benefit of having a hotel with a pool. I didn't think we'd need it as we figured it was only a place to sleep for the night, however as we're there Thursday through to Tuesday, we were planning on having a couple of hours back at the hotel in the middle of the day at the weekend, so starting to think I may have been better off with a different hotel. Although saying that we should have pony rides stuff to keep us amused.

I'm thinking the same as you though about just having an early brekkie at the hotel. Might to GMFL at the weekend. As it will probably be busier than the weekdays we're planning to make those 2 days quite leisurely after EMH

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Although it is very nice to have a break and a swim, it wasn't until our third trip to DLRP that we actually found the time to use the pool! :rotfl:
