Good lease programs

Has anyone come across any good lease programs for bigger vehicles? My son is 13 and will be driving soon so I don't want to buy anything but he & his friends are getting huge and for car-pooling reasons I think we need one of those giant SUVs until he gets his own car. Again, since I think this need will be temporary a lease would be the best fit. Trouble is Edmunds doesn't list them easily any more (I miss that) so I am having a hard time & figured people here might know the 411. I want 3 rows but not those pretend back seats, I want 3 rows of seats that can fit man sized people.

Your options for three true rows is going to be limited to Full Size SUVs (Tahoe, Suburban, Escalade, Navigator, Expedition, QX56, Armada) or Minivans. Unless you are going to buy an extended edition of lets say the Escalade or Navigator, really you'd be better off in a minivan because the former really have very limited cargo space with all three rows up.

Wow...driving at 13? That is young :scared1:

You will most likely have the most room in a minivan. We have a Navigator with captains chairs and the 3rd row bench in the back and actually took out the 3rd row as it was cramped and left you with little trunk space.

The OP is not saying their child will be driving at 13, but that in 3 or so years, they will be driving their own vehicle and will not need as large of a vehicle to carpool their children and their friends around. So if they lease a car for 3 years, they will then be in a perfect opportune time to switch vehicles.

Actually, isn't the driving age in NJ 17 years ?

I don't know what state the OP is from (it might say in their profile, I didn't bother to search). Regardless of the driving age, the purpose is still the same, in short she's looking for a temporary stop-gap.

No more minivans for me if I can avoid it. I know they are the cheaper way to go with both payments and gas but ugggh, i just don't think I can do it again. I loved it when I had little ones and car seats but now I think I'm over it.

We are in Pa and kids here start to drive with parents at 16 and drive alone at 17 I think, which means some of ds's friends will be driving before him which means him squeezing into the car won't even be and issue for that long. By soon I mean soon enough that I don't want to purchase anything. Also, it's only going to be used locally for sports ect so the mileage shouldn't climb too high.

Thanks for the list of vehicles to look at. I've been thinking of a Denali and have heard murmering of some kind of savings extravaganza they might unveil to spur sales... I can only hope the Denali will be part of it. I am going to look at a Navigator this week and will add the others to my list. How funny would it be if I bring my son and a bunch of his friends along to try out the back seats:laughing:

Do you want storage and 3 seats, if so, the Denali or Navigator will not work, there is virtually zero storage behind either of these with the rear seats up, unless you go with the extended editions (ie. Navigator EL or Escalade ESV).

I don't think storage is an issue, if it's just the 4 of us the backseat folded down, popped out or just plain empty should be enough to handle suitcases & stuff like that when we need it.

If the main reason you are getting this is to carpool with your son's friends, think backpacks, musical instruments, sports equipment, etc. You may regret not getting a vehicle with storage behind a 3rd row.

My friend has a Denali, it cost her $97 to fill up a couple weeks ago...:scared1:

Most leases are for 3 years, so the lease period would be rather standard.

As gas prices keep increasing, you should see the purchase prices, and in turn, lease costs, decrease, as these jumbo, truck based vehicles become less and less desirable for most people. Better prices yet to come.

Yes and no, typically if the front end value is dropping, the residual is as well, resulting in minimal movement of the net lease price.
