Good itinerary for sailing first time with a baby?

Those three day cruises always seem too short - “Didn’t we just board?” But that probably seem interminable if baby isn’t happy.

Hoping you have a great life cruising as a family.

Agree, I am always a proponent of doing a 4 nighter to start so that way you get a sea day. And, in this case (traveling with a baby), you can get a little taste of everything and how the baby travels. (Embarkation, Debarkation, Sea Day, Port of call, etc.)

Just one friendly reminder—no babies allowed in the ship’s pools. I always see one argument between a parent and pool staff over this since parents are used to taking baby in land-based pools with a swim diaper. Just seems like this is a rule that is not well known.

I guess we're risky according to a lot of people here, but our first cruise ever was also a 12-day transatlantic, so we like taking deep plunges I guess.. We also have a baby due in November and we've booked next years Norway cruise (7 days). We did choose it because we don't have to fly to Dover, but a cruise shorter then 7 days just seems way to short. I've been preparing my husband that we'll have to take things a lot slower then he's used to and we'll have to see how the baby is with sleeping in different places before we decide if we really can go and if we go, what excursions (if any) we can do. But I just wouldn't want to miss the diaper run!

Congratulations! We’re due in February and are booked for Alaska in September. When I looked at port adventures I saw quite a few we would be able to do. The only thing I’m really worried about is the time change and flying (but that’s just because -I- hate flying😅). We are also lucky to have close friends going with us who have offered to help out. I think it will be great since we are going in knowing it will be very different from our last cruise which was just us.

I'm not sure how old your baby will be when you plan to cruise but something to keep in mind if you aren't already aware: According to Disney Cruise Line's guidelines on how old babies must be to cruise (from their website), babies must be 6 months old on the day of sailing for most cruises but for transatlantic, Panama Canal, and Hawaii itineraries they must be one year old on the day of sailing. Have a wonderful cruise!

Ya I’ve read about that and it’s fine with me not to be near the people soup the ship pools become lol

I’m not sure how old she’ll be since I won’t book until cruising resumes and that’s a bit up in the air at the moment.

Hilariously, we were at a hotel pool last week and I assumed our 8 month old wouldn’t be able to go in because I’m so used to DCL’s rules. So I was pleased when he could!
