So we are trying to pull off our first disney trip oct 20 through 25th.

Many hotels near disney are already booked and others are a lot of money.

Are there any hotels nearby that are in safe areas that may be some decent options? We will have a car so a little drive isnt bad.... Preferabbly not a big one though.

Looking for cheap as possible/really good deals. Any ideas?? Tia

Try Priceline.

What other basic hotels?
Most of the places around DLR are motels, not hotels. If you are looking for a hotel, especially last minute, be prepared to pay more. My guess is that most people will pick a motel near the resort than go slightly farther away to pay the same or almost the same rate for a hotel, then add in driving and the cost of parking. The best place to find a hotel slightly farther out is probably going to be Tripadvisor or something like searching by distance on Expedia or Hotwire.

Motel 6 Maingate is a great choice if it's available for those dates! It's less than a mile away so you can walk or take the ART bus. The rooms are big too! It is nothing fancy, but a great inexpensive place to stay!

You could also check out hotels/motels in the Buena Park area (Knott's Berry Farm area). You'd have to drive and pay $17 for parking, so factor that in when looking.

You didn't say what you consider affordable.

Go to hotels.com, enter dates, prices will pop up. Read reviews. If you don't qualify for AAA, military, or passholder discounts some hotels might offer when booked directly thru their own website, I would also check their prices on orbitz.com or cheaptickets.com using the current 15-19% off coupon codes.

Look in Garden Grove, there are several there and that is just down the street on Harbor Blvd. Short drive to the Toy Story Parking lot.

Right... Preferably under 100 a night. Maybe just above if its really close and i dont have to pay for ART. :)

A motel is fine, im sorry i use those interchangeably when talking about disney. :)

Just checked cheaptickets for oct 20-25 and you are right, many hotels show no availability. Not sure what you can get in your range except the bottom of the barrel. Booking this late, I would also suggest looking farther down harbor into garden grove and driving, or just rescheduling. Some of the cheaper rates don't show the extra fees they add on, and more than 2 guests can also be an extra fee per person, so be mindful of that when comparing rates.

Looking on orbitz using their packyourbags promo code, a few, not horribly reviewed but closer to disneyland and a little more than $100/night hotels popped up:

cortona inn (you can walk across the street to toy story lot for shuttle or just walk the long walk to entrance)

a few more like wyndham in garden grove.
And the super 8 for $99 if you can brave it. (edit shows sold out now, even though it comes up in results)

buena park near knotts also shows a few cheap options and is only about a 15 minute drive down the freeway if traffic isn't a standstill. But I would take heed of reviews first.

On Travelocity, the Motel 6 is $92/nt
Super 8 on DL Drive is $99/nt
Super 8 near DL is $127/nt
I think these are your best bets. The Super 8's offer free parking and a continental breakfast.

The Holiday Inn Express in Garden Grove is nice...been there several times.

Wish i could just reschedule but its been rescheduled several times over the last 5 years and i KNOW it wont be able to happen again for a year if i cant pull it off now. :(

You can get the Motel 6, with the discount for $482.22 total with taxes. You aren't going to find anything less I imagine that is less than a mile away!

Thanks. Is it a good hotel? Clean and comfy?
I dont mind a little drive if i find something awesome:)
