Good Gracious...Can This Site Get Any Slower.

I have tried it with Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, it is a LOT faster with Google Chrome, it took significantly longer with IE!

Maybe there is the problem?

Are you on Firefox? Sometimes if I use Firefox on the DIS, I constantly get the 503 errors. I just use Safari now when I want to come on here.

I'm on Firefox, and its been slowing down significantly lately. Last night I wanted to post b4 bed and couldn't even log in after 10 minutes. And I never have a problem with anything else. I find my Firefox to be way faster than IE.

So just how many millions of ppl hit this site daily?

Chrome is best (fastest), Firefox next, IE the worst. All are laboriously slow. No other sites are slow like this one, regardless the browser. Time of the day, or day of the week, makes no difference; any day, any time, can be terrible.

I too have been spending a lot less time DIS'ing lately b/c of the painfully slow loading times, I just don't have the patience. It's a shame cause I used to LOVE browsing and posting but it seems that those days are gone.

I changed my preferences in my profile to remove VIEW all signatures and avatars. That has increased the response time a bit. Try it. It works.

I post to other forums and the Dis is by far the slowest. I think it is all the photos and avatars. They don't have all that on other sites. But it is noticably slower than other websites. Sometimes I give up and close the page out rather than wait for it.


I just posted this and timed it.. It took 45 seconds to post

I can open and look at about 20 ebay pages in the time it takes "from the second I hit reply, till the second it actually can type". But the strange thing is it's intermittent. Some times it's not that bad. Other times it's not getting to the type page, instead it's the actual post time once I hit submit. So who knows.

alex has said, many times, those do not slow it down, for everyone. Maybe some individuals, with dialup or other slow connection, but not on the whole for everyone.
