hi all , We are going to Disney Dec 14-26th. WE are staying at polyneisan. Which longhouse and room number would be a good location? It needs to be a non smoking room, garden view. We do have little kids with us. Thanks. Can't wait to hear your thoughts and opinions.

Our first visit to WDW we stayed at the Polynesian and it has become one of our favorites:D We went with another family. There were 5 kids under 7. We stayed in the Raratonga longhouse and enjoyed it. It is right next to the GCH, close to the pool, right next to the laundry facilities and not that bad of a walk to the TTC. We had a ground floor room that faced the parking lot, but you can't see the parking lot on the ground floor because of all of the lush vegetation. What we could see was the monorail go by. All of the kids loved this and they would try to guess what color the next one would be. For a standard room I would also stay in the Niue longhouse. It's small and basically in the same location as the Raratonga. Have a great trip:cool:

This is the perfect building IMHO, one side faces the volcano pool and the other the quiet pool but its garden view! I always request ground floor and so far have always gotten that request. This gives us a nice patio to sit and enjoy. The location is very close to Captain Cooks as well as both a quiet and the volcano pool. Its also very close to the main building.

We have stayed twice in the Tokelau bldg in two different rooms on the ground floor they were both great...........

We had room #1812 ground floor patio room in the Rarotonga longhouse. We faced the quiet pool, but there are privacy hedges so it was somewhat blocked, but still very nice!

The location is a good one, as previously posted.

Every AM we fed the ducks that came right up to the sliding glass doors.

We have stayed in Tokelau and Fiji and had great rooms both times. Fiji was a short walk to the GCH and Captain Cooks.

Thank you for your replies..
Does any one else have any input??

There will be rehabbing going on during the period you're there. I had originally requested the Niue building, but found it was to be rehabbed during our Dec 7-14 trip. We're changing our request to either Tokelau or Fiji.

Check Tikiman's site for rehab info. I forgot what's being done when. Tikiman himself suggested Tokelau.

Best wishes for a great trip! Looks like we'll be passing each other as we depart and you arrive!

As you can see there are many great locations to stay at when visiting the Polynesian so I would not drive your self crazy with trying to pick a building and room number. My only suggestions would be to stay away from Tuvalu if you are in a garden view room. It is not the best for garden view but it is great for lagoon view. Also the far side of Rapa Nui is a bad parking lot view. The other side is great but I hate people to request Rapa Nui and have a chance of facing the parking lot.

The schedule for rehab should not affect you in December. Fiji should be done, Aotearoa and Tuvalu are done and the next on the schedule is Samoa (smoking longhouse) in January of 2003. Hawaii is not down till June of 2003 and Niue and Tonga are scheduled for late next year.

My personal recommendation would be Fiji, Aotearoa or Tokelau but as I said there are many great locations and it all depends on what you want to be close to. I always get people saying they want to be close to everything. Well the Polynesian is not that big so you are close to everything but Tokelau is nice for what I like. It is next to the beach and pool and is about in the middle of the walk to the TTC and not far from the GCH and the boat to the MK. Fiji has a great view as well as Aotearoa but I don’t prefer the walk around the marina to get to the pools or the boat.

I hope this helps.

One other thing I want to point out is that it is nice to have a longhouse close to the GCH for when it rains, that way you don't have to walk to far in it:D Although I don't know if it rains much in December?

Did I read correctly that Niue will NOT be undergoing rehab in December?

TIA!

Judy

There was information that Niue was going to start in Sep and end this Dec but it is now scheduled for next September 2003.

There is an up to date rehab schedule on my page 2 of my web page.

Aloha

We just got back last night. We stayed in Tokelou. We stayed in room 1912. We were the third room from the end closest to the water. It was the greatest. We could sit on the patio watch the water parade. They had suprise fireworks off the beach on Thurs. We could see them from our patio. You could see the castle if you looked right from your patio. The castle is far away from all the rooms. But you can see it from the beach expecially at night when it is lit up. We could see the quiet pool from our room. The Hawaii building is right next door. The valcano pool is on the other side of the Hawaii building. So it is not very far. The longest walk is to the GCH but that is not that far either. I really like our location. It was quiet and close to the water. We only payed for a GV. I requested a room close to the water but did not request a room number. I took Tikimans advice on that and it payed off. Have fun. If you have any questions let me know

We just got back today . Our room was3913 inTOKELAU thanks to TIKIMAN and the view was incredible.
