OrlandoMike mentioned starting this thread, and he might have on the Restaurant boards but I thought I'd stick one in here too. Post any local restaurants you know (non-chains of course), especially if they are gay owned/operated/friendly :thumbsup2

One of my favorites for Italian is Bruno's, just west of Disney on 192.

Bruno's Italian Restaurant
7571 W Irlo Bronson Mem Hwy
Kissimmee, FL

Phone: (407) 397-7577

Kissimmee Steak House

192 near the Turnpike exit between Kissimmee and St. Cloud
Great Steaks, decent service, great drinks. The owner is usually on site so if you have a problem you can speak to him. Nice change from the idiot managers who run the chain restaurants on 192.

Barney's Steak House

This one is a little further from Disney, downtown on Colonial near Mills.

Once again, the owner is there most of the time, great steaks and a great salad bar. The first time I walked into this place I said out loud "oh my God it's a supper club!" They even have a piano in the main dining room, and a guy who plays most nights of the week, this place is a real treat!

I would be interested in seeing more on this topic. We will have a couple of nights in Orlando before we go to WDW. We are staying in the Hilton Garden Inn at SW. I would love to be able to find a couple of nice spots to have dinner. Keep em coming! Maggie

There is a great (and cheap) French restaurant right near my house as well:

La Crêpe
8289 Champions Gate Blvd.
Davenport , FL 33896
Phone: (407) 397-2020

Pho Hoa, on Primrose just off Colonial downtown. The BEST Vietnamese going.

Authentic Cuban, Winter Park. Just off NY street. Sorry for the lack of specific addresses. Simple fare, but wonderful. The Media Noche is delicious as are their pappas rellenas.

Sliding into a chain, but Roy's in Dr. Phillips is nice.

I am pretty open. However, my honey is a lot more picky. Gabby loves alfredo or marinara based pasta dishes, good Chinese, good Mexican, a great steak, just about anything chicken, and likes her veggies. Seafood alone is out because she will not eat it. No sushi either. TIA for your help! Maggie

Well I know we said no chains, but you really should try out "restaurant row". It's full of upscalce chains (Seasons 52, Ruths Chris, Roy's etc.) and it's not a bad commute from anywhere in town.

Take I-4 to Sandlake, if your comming from Disney turn left, it starts about 2 miles down the road. Excellent places on both sides of the street.

Perfect! I am ok with chains, at least I know that I can be reasonably certain that I can find something that Gabby will eat. I appreciate your input. Maggie

I'm a big fan of Cafè Tu Tu Tango (sp?) off of I-Drive too. While there are a few locations across the country, it's not your typical chain. It's basically all appetizers, and everyone just shares :goodvibes The walls are covered in art (all for sale), and there are normally artists/palmists/etc in the restaurant as well. It's a fun, trendy place.

We went to Bill Wong's today.

At one point in time this was THE chineese buffet to go to.

It's on International Drive and Kirkman.

We we're the only ones in the place at 1:00 pm.

Enough Said?

The place has really gone down hill.
