Good dinner before Pleasure Island?

One of the nights we are in WDW, my mother will be watching our son and we (me and my husband) are planning to hit Pleasure Island that night. Before we go, we are trying to decide what to do about dinner. (My Mom and son are having pizza on their own.)

Looking for a suggestion for dinner. We were thinking about Fulton's but I keep reading about bad service and reeeeeeally high prices.

We will be staying at AKL if that makes a difference. Is Jiko better kid-free?

Thanks in advance! :earsgirl:

We usually eat at either Fulton's or Captain Jack's. Both are very good. Captain Jacks is probably less expensive, and doesn't take PS, so you need to get there by about 6 pm, so you can get seated without too much of a wait.

We also like Wolfgang Puck Cafe in the West End, and have heard that Portobello Yacht Club next to Fultons is very good.

As for Jiko, we haven't eaten there, but I would think the experience would be a good one without the kids.

Where are you staying? Because the logistics of getting to AKL from another resort can be mindboggling, causing you to change busses. Once you are there, it is no problem to catch the bus to PI, though. If you have a car, that may be your best bet.

their shrimp is soooooooo good and so is the french onion soup.....yummy

Another vote for the House of Blues! Fabulous food and a great atmosphere. We have eaten here MANY times and it's a must do on every trip. We have never had a bad meal there. The hard part is deciding which of our favorites to order.

My vote would go to Wolfgang Puck's Cafe. The food is incredible! Plus, if you like sushi, that is an extra bonus. The downside of this restaurant is that it is very crowded and noisy.

I would not recommend Cap't Jack's. While the service, margaritas and the atmosphere were really nice, I found the food to be very poor quality (both the quality of the seafood and the preparation). I grew up at a marina and DH is a fisherman, so I know about fresh seafood.

JIko's is great "kid free", but there are always kids there, so they can accomodate them quite well.
AS for Pleasure Island, I like Portobello yacht Club.

House of Blues would b my second choice.

will you have another opportunity to eat at Jiko's?
My DH and I celebrated my birthday there 2 weeks ago; the Chermoula Roasted chicken was to die for, with Kalamata olives and preserved lemons.

There were many children there, but it's a sophisticated, attentive restaurant, and I was really glad mine were hanging at Mara and we had a lovely date. Best service anywhere at WDW.

We ended up back at Jiko's 2 nights later it was so good.

We really like the Potobello Yacht Club, we go there every trip!

I vote for Wolfgang Puck Cafe at the West End. The sushi was the best I've ever had and the menu is quite extensive. Excellent service, too.

Bahama Breeze in the Crossroads area is another good choice
