I find it really hard to find a backpack that my DS 17 & 15 like. They like the name brands. Plus, their books are so heavy. It really has to be heavily enforced.

My Dh just bought DSD a messenger type bag a WalMart for $10. It has reinforced sides like for a laptop. he found it over in the purse section instead of with the school supplies.

Staples had a free after rebate backpack deal last week. I'm not sure if it's still going on, but it may be worth looking into.

If you have an outlet mall near you look at VF. A few weeks ago they had basic styles of Jansport backpacks for $10! Their quality is amazing!

The free backpacks from office Depot are small and not reinforced. I do not think they will last long with everything kids carry now.
