We've been to the one at Downtown Disney, but would like to try another one in the area? We tried to get to Numero Uno last time we we're there, but it was closed and we weren't really comfortable in the neighborhood.

Any suggestions??

I've heard that's really good food! What weren't you comfortable with? I was thinking of trying it next time I was up there.

You might try the Columbia? at Celebration or the Samba Room or even Baham Breeze. There is a Latin Quarter restaurant at Universal City Walk. I have not been to any of these except Bahama Breeze (of course), but my husband says they were all excellent.

Bumping this for more suggestions, I would also like to know. I went to Bongos in 2002 and was dissapointed. no Mariquitas with the Cuban Sandwiches (my favorites), their white rice and black beans were good though, as was the churrasco (I had my birthday dinner there)! I had pastelillos at City Walk at the take out counter outside of Latin Quarters one afternoon, they were good but expensive and small. Never made it back to try dinner there.

The Numero Uno near Universal was just a bit off the beaten path for me I'm sure the neighborhood is fine just kind of took me off guard.

We tried Bahama Breeze and like it a lot, I think there are two Numero Uno's in the area I'll try and track down the other and look into the others suggested here.

Thanks

Love Bahama Breeze. At LBV we had a wait of 30 mins at 5.30 and a wait of 45-60 at 6.30 but it was well worth it. If you go expecting to wait and then have drinks and appetisers while waiting on the terrace its fine. There is often caribbean music on the deck too all adds to the atmosphere.

This is probably a little out of the way for you folks staying at Disney...but if you're heading home, and take the I-4 to I-95 route, stop in the cute little town of DeLand. There's a restaurant on Woodland Boulevard (which is in their really neat downtown) called Havana Cuba...best Cuban food I've found since living down here in Florida...and it's incredibly cheap...brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it...they also have some of the best key lime pie I've ever had too.

someone also mentioned Columbia restaurant in Celebration...that's a Spanish restaurant, but incredibly good as well...plus, they have killer sangria...it's definately worth checking out.

We love the Samba room. It is on Sand Lake Road and if you get the Orlando Magic Card which is free on their site (orlandomagic.com I think not sure) you will get 5.00 off each entree your party purchases. The location is great. You can make a reservation, they have a beautiful patio that, providing the weather is nice, has a pretty view.

WE used to go to Bahama all the time and then we got tired of the feeling of being cattle. In fact we began going there when there was only the location on Int'l Dr. After experiencing Samba we did not even go once to Bahama last visit. If you do go to Sand Lake Road be sure and check out the tons of really nice restaurants. They are all situated in a outdoor malls (I know it sounds yuck but it is an upscale place) across the street from eachother. Trust me you will not feel uncomfortable in the area.

Try TooJays for deli food and Timpani for Italian (use O.M. card for free appitizer).

Columbia in Celebration is suppose to have very good Cuban food. It is not cheap however.

Orlando Magic Card re-read the my reply and see how to get one. It is great.

Duh! :o That's what happens when you read these things at work (really fast before anyone notices) LOL! Thanks, I'm getting the OM card, I got it once a couple of years ago but then I stayed onsite and alone so I didn't get a car and wasn't able to use. Thanks for the reminder! :teeth:

FYI - the link to the OM is orlandoinfo.com/magiccard ;) (the other one leads to the basketball team!) Thanks anyway, I signed up for it and should receive it within the 2 to 4 weeks.! :smooth:
