I was go to get the dining plan on my trip in aug, however the couple my boyfriend and i were going with backed out and now we can't afford it. We will have to eat mostly at counter service. I think we will be able to eat at alfredo's since we can get the appetizer portion of the fett. alfredo so it would be cheaper. Does anyone know of any other table service restaurants that are like this or some good counter service restaurants?

It depends on what you like to eat. My two favorites are Sunshine Seasons at Epcot and Cosmic Ray's in MK, because they both offer a wide variety in one place (of the two, SS is my favorite food wise). I also like the Yakitori House in Japan (have to eat there once each trip). For a slightly lower priced table service in the MK, try the Plaza Restaurant. They basically serve sandwiches and ice cream sundaes, but the food is good, and the prices are kind of in between. Table service restaurants are usually cheaper at lunch time than dinner, so I usually book any TS restaurants for lunch and do CS for dinner. Check out the sample menus under dining to get a better idea of what the CS locations serve.

I would also say the Plaza. Other suggestion are Tangerine Cafe in Morrocco DH & I shared a sandwich there for lunch it was huge. My other thought is Trail's End Buffet , one of WDW best kept secrets great value and food. Good luck planning a magical trip.:wizard:

I would say Beaches and Cream (table service). It's one of our favorites. They have great hamburgers and you guys could easily share an ice cream dessert (they are HUGE).

Tangeriene Cafe is another great suggestion for counter service.

Some of the resorts Food Courts are pretty darn good and reasonable too.....We love Cs at Cosmic Rays, and Columbia house ...those are at MK.....
In Epcot....I love to eat at the counter service at Mexico and Sunshine Seasons...
MGM Studios......Not sure really.....
In AK please do not forget that the Flametree BBQ and Pizzafari have great selections too...
In DTD ......Try Earl of Sandwich...DELICIOUS

A cheap TS, is Kona Cafe at breakfast. Everytime we eat there, DH looks at the bill and says "This seems too cheap!" It's a nice break from the expensive meals we consume while at WDW.

Our favorite CS are Columbia Harbour House and Casey's Corner at MK and Flatbread Grill at MGM.

MK - LTT is pretty inexpensive for lunch as is the Plaza
Epcot - Rose & Crown can be affordable and most of the CS places serve large portions.
AK - We found rainforest cafe also affordable depending on what you order
MGM - Prime Time is one of the more inexpensive TS

Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. Tusker House at AK which is my 2nd favorite CS after WP Express at DTD.

Great advice!:thumbsup2

For table service, always look for lunch menus. Usually cheaper, usually less crowded, usually have more sandwich-type things on the menu. We very often will eat a very late lunch and that will tide us over for the rest of the day. Maybe a snack or something might be needed.

Counter service - Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom is a favorite of ours. Lotus Blossom Cafe at China is another. Outside of Epcot, we like the Spoodles pizza take out window. There's also a hot dog kiosk right there as well. Oh - Norway's bakery has pretty good open faced sandwiches.

And our standard snack - a Disney World pretzel. We easily share one of these.

The Mara, the snack bar at AKL is great!!! They have more choices than many other hotel snack bars, plus you can get zebra domes without eating at Boma. Columbia's Harbour House in the MK is a good value, if you order the combo meal you get 2 or 3 peices of fish and chicken plus fries, DD and I split this for lunch. As was said before Trails End over at FW is the cheapest buffet in Disney, keep in mind that it is nothing fancy, just basic offerings, usually 1 fish, 1 chicken, 1 carving choice etc. You can also get just the soup and salad bar at Trails End(chili and peel and eat shrimp are included with that).

Trail's End is probably the cheapest TS restaurant on Property. It is a buffet (all you can eat). Like PP said, have Lunch be your big meal. You can get the same food for cheaper price.

Check out www.allearsnet.com for menus w/ prices. That will get you a better idea for budgeting.

Don't forget that you can share meals. You can go to a nice TS restaurant and share a meal. AT CS you can order a Double burger and an extra bun (cheaper than ordering 2 burgers). Cosmic Ray's in MK has a huge BBQ plate. It is definitely big enough to share. Tusker House in AK has a nice rotisserie chicken plate. I think you ge 1/2 chicken w/ mashed potatoes and green beans. (a nice break from burgers)

My favorite CS are Flame Tree BBQ and the Cantina in WS. Try eating at TS during lunch time. Its generally cheaper. You can check those prices out at allearsnet.com and here I believe

Just be forewarned that Alfredos is closing sometime in August. I can't remember the date, but it was reported here and on allears.net.

Also, Yorkshire Fish sells the same fish n chips that Rose and Crown does.

For those lunch TS meals, sometimes you can eat as late as after 3 pm if you want lunch to hold you until late evening.

Regarding sharing, just remember you will not be allowed to share the cost at buffets, preplated and all-you-can-eat meals. These are charged per person. Even still, careful choosing can make these a real value.

Elsewhere in EPCOT, Biergarten has the same entertainment and similar food at lunch as dinner, for much cheaper. I'll leave it to you to decide if the price is right.

If you want to experience the restaurant, but not pay for a big meal, California Grill could work. Eat a big lunch beforehand. They have a sushi menu and flatbreads, most of which you can share easily, and they are most friendly about it. Might be a great way to see the best of WDW on the cheap (and if you time it right, you get fireworks, too.)

Also, Wolfgang Puck Express (in the Marketplace, NOT West Side) at DTD has great pizza and many say is the best CS on site.

I agree with Wolfgang Puck Express and Trail's End - esp. if you're hungry!

Let me also suggest Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club.

BF and I generally go wherever we like but share a meal. It works out about the same as two cheaper meals anyway.

Earl Of Sandwich at DTD is a great value and really good. We also like Columbia Harbor House at MK and Flame Tree BBQ at AK for inexpensive counter serves.
