Good choices for solo meals?

I will be making my first solo trip to WDW this May and I am very excited about it. I've eaten at quite a few places in Disney but I need to know if there are some that are better for solo travelers than others. For instance, I like the Garden Grill, but probably wouldn't want to eat there alone. I haven't eaten in Italy in forever, how is that for a solo traveler?

What are some good ideas?

On my solo trip, I ate at Le Cellier, Artist's Point, Olivia's, Cap'n Jack's, and Kona Cafe and Spoodles for breakfast. I think I felt most comfortable at Olivia's, but I did have a wonderful chat about Aerosmith with the server at Artist's Point. And I didn't have to share my breadsticks at Le Cellier... :Pinkbounc

I took along a notebook and made notes on my days while I ate, which kept me from being truly uncomfortable anywhere.

I feel like I am a posting billboard for Flying Fish  but I think that would be a great place. I love sitting near the fire and relaxing there.
Almost any place would be great, except the family syle restaurants.
For a quick breakfast or lunch try Earl of Sandwich in DTD. Then you have plenty of shopping choices. :)
Saratoga Springs has a nice eating area too for breakfast or lunch.

In December, I ate solo at Primetime and was treated like any othre "cousin"
You can watch the TV, too. Mama's chix was darn good.

You can also eat the counter in the restaurant if you'd rather.

herc.

It took me several solo trips to get comfortable with sit down dining. First place I felt comfortable was CRT at lunch, followed by Chefs de France. Ask for a window table there and you can "people-watch" all thru your time there. Although I haven't eaten solo at Sci Fi, I just ate there with DS last week and on my next solo trip, I definitely plan to try it out.

Just a thought, but if one night you wanted to have some conversation even though you're dining solo, try Teppanyaki. The food is good, the chef entertaining, and you'll be seated with other groups. I don't know if you are comfortable with that but our family sat at one of the grills with another couple and they were SO nice. By the end of the meal we felt like they were friends. I love meeting and talking to people from other places at WDW.

If you're in the Boardwalk area, I was very comfortable eating solo at ESPN Club.

I enjoyed eating solo at the Sci-Fi at MGM. Everyone was just watching the screen and it was a pleasant way to enjoy a meal.

I would think many of the more upscale restaurants would be great solo....like the California Grill, Artist Point, Brown Derby, etc.... In this case I would be less hesistant to ask for a table with a good view than I am with a group.

Hmmmm....I never really thought about dining alone at WDW because I always have my family of 5 with me....but it might be just the break I need. It sounds really appealing at this moment.

One thing I've always wanted to do, and I might go ahead and do solo...is the tea at the Grand Floridian.

Personally, I'd consider Teppanyaki risky....if your go there with someone its not quite as uncomfortable if the strangers you are seated with are not friendly...because you can still talk to the person or people who came with you. If you are seated with a less than friendly group (as we were one time...) it could be difficult. Of course, that depends on how outgoing you are too...it might be rather amusing to try to lighten up a bunch of grumps!

Have fun!
