Good chapter book recommendations for 1st-2nd grade reading level?

Thanks for all of your great suggestions; I will find out which of those seem interesting to him and we'll make a trip to the library soon. Thanks also to the poster who warned about "Superfudge" spilling the beans about Santa... I'd hate for that to get ruined too soon!
