I know I've seen something here before about good food that is reasonably priced in and around DLR but I can't seem to find it.:confused3

We will are heading down in less than a month  :cool1: :yay: and I would like to have a bit of an idea of where we should eat. We don't need fancy or character dining. I am fairly sure the less expensive the better, BUT we still want good;)

I do remember Mimi's being a good place. Anywhere else near DLR? How about in DLR, DCA or DTD?

Thank you all so much for all your helpful information!!:thumbsup2

Almost forgot.... where do I look to check out menus? Maybe a 'nicer' dinner one night would be good:upsidedow

Mimi's is good, so is Millie's (at least for breakfast). We like Taste Pilots Grill in DCA and Whitewater Snacks in the GCH too, those are good.

Oooooooo thank you pixiewings! White Water Snacks...that is one of them that I couldn't remember the full name of! Didn't know where it was either. lol

OH MY! THANK YOU THANK YOU AVALON!! :flower3:

I am just beside myself with anticipation and excitement for this trip:dance3:
Really I am not sure who is more excited....me or my teenage girls! lol

If you are not big eaters, start by sharing a meal. Then if you're still hungry you can go back for more, or go experience another place. But if you get a meal for everyone and find out you're over-full, you can't send food back for a refund! :)

Also check out the kid's meals. I've only gotten them at counter service places, and they were the bean and cheese burrito meals at Rancho and Cocina Cucamonga, and also the penne pasta meal at Plaza Inn, but they are GREAT. Very filling, very good, and they include a drink (you have to ask if you want a little cup for soda, but I just generally get the little bottle of water).

We had dinner from Millie's. Hubby and I and our *starving* 4 year old (he gets so excited in the parks he forgets that he's hungry and refuses to eat) had ONE macaroni and cheese entree with ONE salad and ONE garlic bread order. It filled up all of us! And was only something like $11. We got it to go on our walk back to HoJos and it was still hot when we got to the room. So good.

There's also Coco's on Katella.

Inside DL -
Hungry Bear - hamburgers/Chicken Sandwich
Plaza Inn - Nice sit down chicken dinner
Rancho Del Something - free refills, free cups of water, better than average mexican dishes
Riverbelle Terrace - was good but might have changed menus since we were there.

Outside DL
Millie's - poor man's applebees
Mimi's - kind of expensive for what you get

All the rest we ate at were chain restaurants.

Wine Country Trattoria for lunch. I went with my husband and 18 year-old daughter. There was plenty of food to split between the three of us.

We like the roasted turkey legs. There are a few carts that have them. If I remember, one by Thunder Mountain and the other close to Small World (I think). They are not to bad price wise, and if you like turkey, you can stuff yourself or even share for a few bucks.

I 2nd Bumbershoot's tips! I love the kids meals at Plaza Inn. For $6 bucks you get a meal AND a drink! You can't beat that! I had the fried chicken kids meal a few weeks ago because I wanted to save room for a piece of carrot cake. After eating the kids meal, I could only finish about 1/2 of the cake!

A lot of the meals at the park are big enough to share. Then if you're still hungry, grab a churro or a Dole Whip later.

I so agree with Rancho del Zocco and Wine Country Tratoria. The tostada at Rancho is around $10 and easily feeds two or more.

I love doing WCT is that I eat the salad and bread there and pack out my sandwhich for dinner. I get two meals in one :) But that is me :) Otherwise share a meal there their prices are pretty good, the portions are large and the food is good.

Sometimes sharing at a TS is way cheaper then a CS, with better quality food.

For me, nothing beats the steak nachos at Whitewater Snacks. My husband and usually share an order and always leave more than satisfied. They are yummy!

Rancho Del Something - better than average Mexicans dishes

Are you kidding? that food is so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taco Bell is more like Mexican food than that place.

The mexican place in DCA on the pier is much much better Mexican food! And they are better mannered!

We travel with a very tight food budget. Share meals when possible. Try to see the portions before you order and figure who will eat what.

Inside DL/DCA
Tomorrowland Terrace - for breakfast
River Belle Terrace - for breakfast - both very reasonable
White Water Snacks - huge portions - three of us shared the nachos

Outside the park -
McDonalds for breakfast and snacks
Quiznos - now running a $5 combo special
Mimi's - ate there last week twice - portions are huge
Millie's - decent food
Cold Stone Ice Cream - sub ice cream for a meal ;)

Carnation Cafe has table service and is very reasonable... We go there every trip... In fact we are going for lunch this saturday and breakfast this sunday... LOL

Hi there, i completely agree with bumbershoot about meal sharing....some of the portions there are huge...we share because of that, but saving a little money is definately a bonus :cool1: ...On our last trip last september, my kids were dd-16, ds-14 and dd-12...there were many times i shared with my son who is a BIG eater...if we shared, sometimes we would order a side salad ( i believe at mimis it was only about 99 cents for one)...or i would share with my younger daughter (older daughter is picky).most breakfasts, the omelettes, at mimis are extremely filling...as you can tell, mimis was our favourite...we also like taste pilots...there is a mcdonalds outside DL, but in two trips we only ate there once....tony romas is also great...have an awesome trip...

There is an Anaheim Garden Walk new shopping area (they have a website anaheimgardenwalk.com) which has lots of fast casual places. I can get free giftcards for California Pizza Kitchen from mypoints so we are having a meal there one night and same thing goes for Rain Forest Cafe. We are planning 1 character breakfast and 2 sit down dinners in the the DL park for the 4 nights we are staying plus CPK and RFC.

the Pizza Port in Tomorrowland gives you good portions for the money. My husband and I have shared a pasta dish before. And then we both get side salads.

The Pizza Port has pizza, pasta, and salads.

thank you!!

yes and they have Cheesecake Factory ..I got the chicken marsala with bowtie pasta and in one plate they gave me 4 pounded chicken breasts and probably a whole pound of pasta...I could only eat half of it...but also when I was at DL last week I noticed the portion sizes were smaller at CC...in sept. when we went we ate at CO and the portions were smaller there as well...but everywhere else they served nice sized portions
