Good But Cheap Computer

Our Computer Is About 8 Years Old And My Husband Thinks That We Need A New One. All We Use It For It Internet And Games. Anyone Have Advice On A Cheap Model That Will Be Good For Games And Internet Use. Through His Company, We Do Get A Discount On Dell.
I Just Want The Basics And Am Not Sure What To Buy. I Hate To Spend $1,000 To Play Games And Surf The Net!!!

I don't know about any specific names for a cheap computer, but check out Tiger Direct.com. We bought a refurb computer from there for about $300 and it has worked out great. We just bought the hard drive and it came with a mouse and a keyboard. We just used our old monitor.

You can always try the E-Machines. They range from simple computers to gaming computers. The prices are reasonable and they come with everything.

Do you have a Micro Center by you? They sell their own brand of computers call Power Spec. They are also reasonably priced. They do not come with a monitor though.

I would stay away from Dell's though. Some people have huge success with them, then others have absolute horror stories. I priced out computers for awhile and theirs seem to be pretty high up there. I know most people will buy them for their customer service. The customer service I have had from them was not worth the price of their computers, IMHO. I personally would build my own computer but since most people have no idea how to do that I think E-Machines are your best bet.

I just went to Staples and bought a compaq with a crt montor for 465.00 - a 100.00 MIR = 365.00 with taxes. The deals are out there. I suggest you take a look at fatwallet. They are always posting computer deals they find. I know one of the deals at Compusa is an 150.00 computer. I don't know all of the details.
