Hi,
I am looking for a good book or website for my 5 year old daughter. This will be her first trip to WDW, and I want her to feel that she is included in the planning. Is there a good travel book or website anyone can suggest, that she can look at the rides, pictures, etc. so that she can give input to what she wants to FOR SURE see when we are there? We have the Birmbaum book, but that isn't cutting it for her.
Thanks!

Guide to the Magic for Kids.

It is available on Amazon, but if you google it you will find their website as well. I ordered it from the website.

DD (6.5yo) loves it. The book is extremely comprehensive...covering every attraction and ride, has journal pages, stickers for each ride/attraction and space for mini reviews of everything.

There are also little activities (keeping track of the monorail colors, close up picture searches, etc) and Epcot World Showcase Passport spaces as well.

The Birnbaum book looks like a poorly put together brochure in comparison!

I know it isnt a book but for our first trip I sat down with dd at the walt disney world website. She could see clips of the shows, rides, etc. It really got her excited as she really had no idea where she was going or what she would be doing, we knew no one that had been to WDW recently.

we've done the same thing. we looked on the website, watched the video several times and talked about things. my kids have never been, but they actually have a pretty good idea of what the attractions are and even which park they're in. after they had some familiarity we each picked some of our favorites and ordered the free maps. we've seen a few specials on tv as well. i believe the travel channel is starting up a few new ones april 11th. i think they will be fridays at 900. that may be too late for the younger kids though.

maybe we will try that "guide to the magic" book. i saw the birnbaum one in the store, but it didnt seem to have anything that we didnt already know.

The Guide to the Magic for Kids is awesome! As a teacher, I love the journaling spots. It is very interactive!

Another vote for Guide to the Magic for Kids! :thumbsup2 My DD9 just LOVES it, and it's really helping to get her involved in the planning as she remembers very little of her first trip to WDW 6 years ago. I think it'd appeal to a very wide age group as there's heaps of photos for the youngsters who aren't fluent readers, and plenty of info, 'insider tips' and 'mini-treasure hunts' for the older kids. Also must agree with PP about the journalling spots too - it'll be great for her to have somewhere quick and easy to jot down her experiences/interactions each day we're at WDW.

I ordered mine from Amazon, only because I also wanted the UOG (for me) & Passporter (for DD11), and it was the cheapest way to get all three.

Walt Disney World For Kids By Kids

I bought this book for our son last year when we went to Disney. He was 7 and he loved it. Kids write the reviews and rate the rides on various levels: scare factor, darkness, etc. I don't know if your child can read at 5, but my little one was 3 and he loved looking at the pictures in it too. Maybe you could read parts of it to your child? DS carried this book around the parks with him and read up on everything while we were in line. That way he knew for sure if he wanted to ride it or not before we got to the front. I highly reccomend it.
