Good/bad to give away conference park tix?

So Dh and I are in WDW now for a conference. Tomorrow they are giving us two paper tickets for park entrance on that day only - a non park hopper for Epcot. However, we have APs. I was thinking of giving the paper tix to someone in line at the ticket counter. (I'm one of those people who loves to give away my unused FPs!)

I was wondering:

A.) Is this even doable? I can't imagine that these paper tix are tied to us by name. Since we didn't give them our finger prints. :-) I'm assuming I could give them away if we wanted to?

B.) Is this "wrong?" I guess technically I would be depriving Disney of the $ they would make off of 2 adult one day tickets. But I really want to pass along some magic!

Really hoping I'm not opening a can of worms, here. But as I type this I'm thinking it might be a controversial topic. And yet I am going to post it anyway! :-)

Thoughts?

It sounds awesome to me!! Not the same thing, but I always look for someone to give my extra coupons to when I'm in a store like Yankee Candle, Gymboree, etc.

We have season passes at BG Williamsburg. We brought one of older dd's friends along. I was waiting in line to buy her ticket, and a lady walked up to me and gave me a free ticket. She said she had an extra, and asked if I wanted it. I could have kissed her!! Talk about random act of kindness!!

I'd share 'em! Spreading that Disney magic may just make the recipients more inclined to spend their cash in the Disney stores if their tix are paid for! :)

The tickets are paid for and you are not going to use them, so I would give them to someone else. I would just not do it at the ticket window.

Not wrong with sharing a little pixie dust.

Here are the worms. :goodvibes

Expect maybe 75% of the people you approach to look at you like you have lobsters crawling out of your ears and wonder whats the catch.

People have had trouble giving away FP's and you are trying to give away tickets.

Also they are not worth as much as you think. I'm going to assume they are non upgradeable so if someone was going to buy a 5 day ticket it only saves them $8 a ticket over getting a 4 day ticket.

One other issue is most people have tickets already before they get to the parks so there will not be that many people buying tickets at the gate.

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but it's the facts.

Do you know anyone in the area?

Like I was in Home Depot a few nights ago. I guy approached me and asked if I worked there. Like I'm I wearing an orange apron.

I say no and he starts to tell me he has a $125 gift card he wants to sell, he has all the paper work to prove its legit. I just kept walking.

Good Luck

Go for it!! One of the previous posters is correct about people being reluctant to take freebies. I have had problems giving away FPs, Mardi Gras beads and yes even offers to pay for meals.

As a previous poster said, if someone is buying a multi-day ticket, your tickets won't have much value to them $$$-wise.

I think it's a wonderful idea, but like a pp said, don't be surprised if people look at you like you're crazy. I've tried giving away fast passes that I knew that I wasn't going to use to people that were going to get some and they refused to accept them :confused3

I am sure that you can find someone to give them to. But it may take some time. When we went on our cruise we stopped in Port Canaveral for the day and went to Disney. We bought one day tickets at the gate. Not everyone is buying multi-day tickets.

Certainly they will be "worth" the most to someone buying a one-day ticket, but they will save anyone a few bucks even if it means they only have to buy a 3-day ticket instead of a 4-day.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with you wanting to give these tickets away. Hopefully, the lucky recipients will pay your kindness forward in some way!

I'd say that as long as they aren't tied to the conference -- like having to show a conference badge to use the ticket -- then it's probably OK to share.

But doing it in the ticket line is bad form -- I'd catch them coming off the tram.

I think it is very kind of you!! And yes you may find a few people are a little leery, but you will find someone who is grateful! We have passed on the pixie dust with fast passes, the DDP, and other little extras. I hope you have a wonderful day knowing you did something extra nice to make someone's day extra special!! :goodvibes

I wonder if you might have better luck asking other conference attendees if they need additional tickets? I’ve tried to give away extra park tickets to a local theme park to other arriving guests, and received the leery responses others have mentioned.

Wanting to share the magic is a kind thing to do. Hopefully someone who can really benefit from the tickets comes along at just the right time!

Good thought! Maybe another conference attendee has local friends or family that they could invite to join them?

Otherwise, as others have said, it will be harder than you think to give them away.

One more thought that probably won't work. Can they add the value of the ticket to your AP somehow?

In any case, good luck. It was really nice of you to think about sharing the magic. :thumbsup2

I don't think I would do this at the gate. As stated people are going to question if the tickets are legit.

Second, Disney security might think you are trying to sell tickets.

I would go with the suggestion to see if anyone at the conference needs them.

One thing that you might also consider. Those are the tickets that Disney has been known for providing to companies as a freebie to use for say an employee appriciation or silent auction fund raiser.
The $$ if you have a multi day ticket may not be that much, but for a one day entrance, it's pretty valuable. I'd be thrilled to win a bid or have one. :worship:

My experiance with conferences is that people do end up taking extra people who then need tickets. I will be doing this next summer. I know I'm going and as of yet, not sure who else will be going, as my daughter wants to invite a friend.

Someone could do a day at a waterpark who didn't buy the extra perk. You have many options to spread the pixie dust.:hippie:

Have fun, as spreading pixie dust is a great experiance.
