Good, Bad, Odd & Pics- VERY Long BCV Trip Report

Thanks for sharing your trip report and very sorry to hear about your room.:( Happy to hear your family members are now OK. I know it is almost impossible to replace sentimental items but I hope your homeowners insurance will help in some way. We went through and itemized, cataloged and took pictures of everthing in our Disney Room for insurance coverage but you just can't put a value on many items. Maybe try Disneyana magazine for some help on collectible values. Also try the local Barnes and Noble or Border's Bookstore and check out the collectible section for possible info. Wish you the best.

Thanks for the report!

I had a similar (but opposite) situation where the CM told us that they weren't able to meet all of our requests....but it turned out that all of our requests had been met! The only thing I wasn't expecting was that our room was handicapped accessible....which we didn't have anything about on our requests. Sorry you didn't have the room near your parents. I agree that the 2br is worth it, for future reference. We've only got 80 points left for next year because we borrowed for it in December.

Funny, in your HDD pic...that's the waitress we had last time we were there!

Thank you for the informative report. Glad to hear that overall your trip was a good one. Thank goodness your mom is well. How scary.

I would've been devastated to find the collectibles in pieces. I hope your claims adjuster will be generous when he puts the final figure on your collection. For the glass shards, I'd use a Shopvac - suck those pieces right up. I wish you lots of luck.

Very much enjoyed the pics - cute dance!!! :p Thanks for posting your adventure.

Hey Shan, thanks for the report! I loved the pictures! Your daughters are so cute! Sorry to hear all the bad things on your trip - at least you had a lot of good also. How horrible about your mom and DD falling down:eek: glad everyone was ok.

How tall is your 3 year old? I was surprised to read she got on Dinosaur. My 3 1/2 year old is 38 inches tall. I am hoping she can grow 2 inches in 6 weeks so she can ride Splash with me :teeth:

Thanks for sharing!

It also has the DVC logo on it with Mickey up top sitting on a lifeguard stand and Beach Club Villas across the top.

I love this pin...bought it in May while staying at BCV.

BTW -- I just want to say thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed trip report. It is so good to hear not only the good, but the bad as well.

Thank you.

Thanks again everyone. :)

Lesley, funny that same waitress was also on the recent WDW Fan's Guide on the Travel Channel. Popular gal.

About handicap accessible rooms... I don't mention it when I book it for fear they might misunderstand me, but when I check in I always ask if it is not handicap accessible so there are no surprises when I get to the room. (Yea, right. ) We usually stay in studios to max our 200 points and right now we need the tub.

rinkwide, MC Hammer cracks me up! Love that little dancing pic you got on there.

Lexxiefern, my 3 1/2 year old is tall I think for her age. Funny, cause I'm so short! Last June she made it on BTMR, Test Track, Star Tours, etc, just BARELY. Each ride they would check her at the front and right before boarding. I mean her head just grazed the sign.
I wasn't planning on her riding Dinosaur, I thought it would be too scary. We were walking thru the cue to get to the point where you switch off for child swap and my oldest was like hyperventilating just for fear of walking thru the cue. She is not a thrill seeker for sure. When we went to split off my youngest started SCREAMING to go on the ride. Weird... My Dad got all excited and my Mom was mad. She didn't want her to get on it. She begged and off she went. I waited back and when she came out she was begging to ride it again! I couldn't believe it. I thought she was going to be crying. (I saw several little ones in tears coming off of it.) So I took her with me. Actually, I was watching her and her head was moving all over the place. I didn't like the way it looked especially after her Poly fall the night before. I was sure I was causing her damage by riding it. She loved the thing, though. Go figure...
I'd say have your daughter wear some clunky shoes. Look at the pic of my daughter and you can see her shoes we took. They might have added an inch. :teeth: Good luck!

It's my prediction that parachute pants are going to make a big comeback.

I could handle parachute pants coming back in, but those baggy pants that MC Hammer wore will push me over the edge... :p

Shan,

I just made your BWV sunset pic my desktop! Gourgous!!! Thanks for the report!

Please tell me how you booked this cruise. How did you get someone else to go with you. There are just four of us, but I really want to do this. Please instruct me on how you put this all together. We are DVC members. Our next trip home is Dec. 4, 5, 6, VWL. MVMCP on Dec. 5. My kids would love this!

Thanks,

McJeff

Shan, thanks for the great report -- I found the link! Also sent you a PM.

So sorry about your collectibles. It's hearbreaking to lose treasures. I cry when I hear about families who have had fires. When I see them on TV trying to be brave, I think "I'd die if I lost the photo albums..." Maybe some of the things can be slowly relaced with Ebay? Sounds like your homeowner's insurance should help with replacement... I hope so!
