Good / Bad news - Dance Class

Good news for my 12yo DD, she's been invited to join one of the dance companies at her studio. They only invite and with 600 dancers to chose from it's an quite an honor. I'm thrilled for her she's been working for it.

Bad news for me This means endless hours for her at the studio, I'm the taxi. More fees & more conventions. Lots of time and $$.

Dance mom's please tell me it's worth it!

From one dance mom to another. It's worth it just to see the joy and pride on your DD's face. I only work part time and almost all of it goes to my DD's dance and music. I wouldn't change a thing.

i'm not a dance mom, but I think if it's something your daughter loves and she's good at it then she should keep it up will all your support (as long as you can afford it tho - I know how expensive it can be )

I'm a dance mom, and I say if this is what she wants, and she is willing to give up everything else that costs $$, go for it.
I found out DD#1's dance company is going from 1 hr. 45 min. each week to 2 nights at 2 1/2 hours each week. I know this isn't much for hardcore dancers, but this is a pretty low maintainance studio with few conventions, extra $ is mainly costumes. DD#1 had an extra 45 minute hip hop class last year so I paid the same $ (DD#2 also dances 1 1/2 hours a week) so I told DD#1 she will have to drop hip-hop so my $ cost stays the same.
I have a neighbor who has a daughter in Junior Olympic volleyball--she will probably get a scholarship, but the neighbor told me she figured she spent almost $8000 last year on travel, fees, etc.!
