DH is not in a wheelchair, but has been suffering from bulging and herniated discs. We arrived 12/13 at Pop, changed on 12/15 to AKL and returned 12/18. We asked for toilets with hand rails. We did not ask for an accessible room or king bed, but we did get a king bed room each time with accessible tubs. What I liked is that Pop had the toilet hand rails up against the wall and you just pulled them down for use. AKL had the extra handrails near the toilet and in the tub. We were very pleased with our assigned rooms. At AKL we were upgraded to a poolview room. Since it was on the first floor, we had only a view of the shrubbery. It was fine for us..
I was also worried about him getting in and out of the rental car. We booked National EA, and picked out a Toyota Prius. He said getting in and out was better than the Impala that we usually get.
All in all, a good take it easy, eat alot, trip.

I am so glad to hear that they were able to accomodate your hubby. I suffer from the same problem and always fear getting up and down. I had a terrible time on the Pooh ridw in DL last week and was so ashamed to have everyone staring as my hubby had to pull me out. There was nothing to grab and no leg room to try and turn around at all.

Husband shares your pain. He could not get out of the Nemo ride at the Living Seas at WDW back in Sept when his back was really bad. The CM had to slow down the ride for him to get out.

thanks for the report.
glad things went well.
