So i read Patty T's post here and alot on twopeas about "going vertical" after seeing the QVC scrap show with the cropper hopper vertical paper storage. I was really intriqued, and spent a good chunk of time searching the net for a good price.. best i found was $20 + shipping

Well, procrastination paid off.. ACMoore had them for $15 on sale! On Monday I bought 3 (they hold about 200 sheets of 12x12 each) and had fun sorting my paper. DH and I went back last night to buy more, they were back to full price ($24) but that meant we could use the two 50% off coupons we had got in the mail .. $12.50!!! Yippie!!!

Everything fits pretty nicely, with a little room for growth. I can easily see what kind of paper i have.. I didn't realize I had so much blue and brown.. (and I never use brown!) but very little pastels and yellow/pinks.. which is what i am always running to the store for. I loooooove it.. The Cropper hopper system is awesome, your paper doesn't flop or anything. Loved it so much I flipped 3 of my 8.5x11" on it's side, and pushed it up against the wall on my desk. Awesome! So much more space!!

Highly reccomend "going vertical" - Give it a try!

Heather...I read your post w/alot of interest as I spent an hour or so this morning sorting through my paper trying to decide what to do w/all of it. My
problem is I don't have a desk to work on or a place to keep all of my paper except for my XXL Crop in Store. Each time I scrap, I have to get everything out, work on it, and then put it back up when I'm done. It's such a pain!!
I came up w/an idea of putting all the different shades in different "Craft Keeper" storing folders. I put the yellow, reds and oranges in one, solids as
well as patterned, greens and purples in another, black, white, tans in one, pinks in one and blues in another one. Have ALOT of blues, pinks and tans so they all deserve their own folder. I'm not sure how this is going to work. I had thought about putting all the patterned paper in one folder based on color and the solid colors in a separate folder but that can get pretty expensive and very bulky. :confused3
Does anyone else have this same problem? What do you do about it?
Thanks for any feedback and help!!

Isn't it wonderful to get your sb "stuff" organized :)? I bought 12" x 12" stacking trays at on of my LSS & had them filled quickly with paper. Now I can see what I have! I sorted mine by colors. I use a lot of solids. My non-solid paper is organized by theme - military/Americana, travel, flowers, etc.

Interesting to read what colors we each have & what gets used & not used. I use a lot of yellow, red, blue & tan/brown.

J -
I have read on 2 peas that you can use your trays to go vertical too if you wanted -
just flip them on their sides and if you are nervous about stability put a little electrical tape or packing tape on the backs to hold them together!
;)

Glad to have put the vertical bug in your ears - I LOVE mine!

I went vertical some time ago and have my cropper hoppers vertical storage containers in my target cubes. Each cube will hold four to five of the vertical storage containers (depending on how much you want to squish... I have four). I love this system and each color has it own storage container

Still lovin' the vertical! :) I went and got regular magazine holders for my 8.5x11

As for the sorting.. I'm still not sure how I feel about how I've sorted. For now, it's completely by color.. card stock seperated from patterned paper, but they are in the same larger holder .. special papers (vellums, disney, really expensive stuff) are in their own holder. I read on twopeas some folks separating paper by manufacturer, I don't know how they could ever know what they have!? but it would be nice, for replenishing your stock.

TN Traveler, I feel for you, there are lots of scrappers who have to pack up between scrapping sessions. But look at it this way, it's probably great for going to crops! Is there anywhere you can put some target cubes? or a little room on a bookshelf somewhere? a closet maybe? I also had a friend who would work on a large board (from the hardware store) and she would slide it under her bed or the couch between scrapping times.. that way she could leave intact the layout she was working on, even though she didn't have a set scrapping place. It really is worth it if you can find even the littlest amount of space, because you can spend more time scrappin' and less time (and energy) packing and unpacking.

Good luck!

Heather, Thanks for the great suggestions. I may very well try the cubes
from Target. I could put them in my closet and sort by activity...ie....beach,
Christmas, soccer etc. That's a good idea!! This way i wouldn't have to have all my paper out at the same time. Thanks for the idea!!
Karen
