Gone brain-dead -- How is hopscotch laid out??

I wanted to draw a hopscotch grid on the driveway in chalk to give DS something different to do, but for the life of me, can't remember how it's laid out! Anyone with more active brain cells than me who can help me out? :)

Ok, my son has a hopscotch rug upstairs...

One square than two on top next to each other, than one..etc....


Does that make sense?

That is all wrong... (at least when played Hopskotch, years ago :))

this is how we played it -
end of "board"

You started out at the bottom, throw your "chinese jack" chain, in sequential order and you "skiped" that square, then reversed.

And 5,6,7,8 were in one big box with an ex in the middle dividing the square into 4 spaces.
 
The other day I walked past a toy store that had drawn things with chalk on the sidewalk enticing people to come in. They had also drawn a hopscotch board. However, the person who drew it should it should have come on these boards and asked this question first, because there was a row with 3 blocks on it! :) I thought about going inside to see if they had a 3-legged salesperson who could use the hopscotch board, but I didn't.
