Well, just booked for next March / April using the 50% flight discount we were given from Virgin, following a 36 hr delay :cool1:

Just got to sort out car rental now - anyone know whether I'm as well to wait until nearer the time for cheaper rates? Virgin quoted me £420 but I'm convinced I can do better given the help on the boards :teeth:

It'll be for 3 wks - March 23rd - April 13th 2006.

:cloud9:

£420? Was that for an economy car? Was it a platinum fully inclusive package or something lower?

How many of you are going? If there are a few of you'll be better off in a bigger car.

Sorry for all the questions but it has a big impact on the cost of the car hire.

Airline network are usually cheaper ;)

Actually daywalker that varies I did a quote last weekend for the 4 x 4 on airline network it came out at £657 but on uscarhire £591 so it's swings and roundabouts really and is certainly worth trying both.

Once you have tried all the above, try Allstatescarhire.com they have a £5.00 price beat promise.

£5.00 is a few beers! Not while using the car though!

Absolutely, that's why I just said they are 'usually' cheaper.
People just need to make sure they're comparing like with like, additional taxes and insurance etc, it soon adds up.

Got myself a full size car for two weeks in oct for £276, fully inclusive platinum insurance from airline network.

Also try Lunn Poly - the best hire I could find online was £240 and they originally priced it @ £265 but dropped it to £210 if I booked that day!

That was a 2 door compact with ins - probably platinum or the equivalent as she said extra driver and no other state fees etc.
2 adults and a 7 year old. :cloud9:
I think it's pretty a expensive quote and we'd rather have 4 doors than 2 which will push the cost up a little :confused3 .
Virgin use Dollar whose ins is notoriously high so I'll have a look around at what everyone's posted. :teeth:
Thank you.

Well, airline network came out tops at £375 and Allstates bottom at £399 for a 4 door compact :flower:
Given the price promise though on Allstates that could be a winner. Off to look on Mousesavers now to see whether there are any discount codes ;)
