If you have tried Golo for weight loss I would love to hear about your experience with it. I’m considering trying it. I had a diabetic check up today and asked my doctor but he didn’t know anything about it. I need to lose 30-40 pounds.

Have you talked to him about Ozempic? It seems to be becoming a fairly regularly prescribed med for both blood sugar regulation and weight loss.

The small print in the ads for it on TV talk about diet and exercise to go along with the pills. If you diet and exercise, I would think that the pills aren't necessary. I thought about trying it as well. My doctor advised me that in his opinion diet pills are a scam. Golo may not be, but I was told to eat less and sensibly and move more.

I’ve seen the Golo ads but they don’t tell you much and I am skeptical of any weight loss ads.

So many people taking Ozempic for weight loss that diabetics who actually need it can’t get it. :( There was a story on Today show about people who used it for weight loss now unhappy about how their faces look - called Ozempic face!

About once a year it seems some new 'approach' to weight loss comes along.............noom...........golo........and any number of others. I also noticed the fine print at the bottom of the screen talks about diet/exercise and the 'psychology' of eating whatever that means. I don't think any of them are worth paying for. Eating a sensible diet along with reasonable exercise has never gone out of style when it comes to a healty lifestyle. I agree as someone else mentioned, diet pills are mostly a scam and you should never start any of those programs without first discussing it with your doctor.

I wouldn't look to any pill. I recommend finding a good gym with a good trainer and to start lifting weights. A few years ago I got tired of feeling so awful and went on a health journey. It took a while but I really focused on my diet and building muscle. I got in amazing shape and felt fantastic. Then because I am me, I have let some setbacks affect me and have gained weight again. Eating right is really the hard part for me and I need to get back to caring for myself again. Feeling good IS worth the work.

Just saw this on the news too. Saying Ozempic is aging their face......

We asked our doctor about it and she said that the diet and exercise part is what will get you the weight loss, not the pill. She did mention Ozempic. She checked our A1C and we were not diabetic so she doesn’t recommend it at this time. We are doing the diet and exercise thing now…actually, we know that it has to be a lifestyle change. We know we can lose the weight this way because we have done it before and have lost some since starting Jan. 2. It wont be fast but we have to do it. My A1C wasn’t far from the diabetic range and I don’t want to have to go on meds for it so hopefully this will work. We are hoping the weight loss is going to help a lot of other problems…GERD, knee issues, high blood pressure, back issues, etc. We shall see. And this time we ARE sticking to the lifestyle change. 🙏🏻 🤞🏻

Ask your doctor about a good nutritionist and trainer. Most insurance will pay for some if not all of it. Even the YMCA has some form of both and will work better for you.

When I hear "psychology of eating" I think of two things:
  • Eating as an emotional coping mechanism. Eating baked goods to cope with stress for example.
  • The habbit of eating. If you always have snacks when you watch TV you'll start to make the connection and one will go with the other.
The bottom line is that diet and exercise are always the answer and 95% of what you will need. The other 5% could be fasting, a safe pill, things like sauna or cold therapy, or some of the other practices you see talked about but those will always be a small portion of the picture.

Eat real food that isn't processed or in a box and find some sort of exercise you enjoy, not something you have to force yourself to do. It is much simpler than all these programs make it out to be.

Well if you want to waste your money....

Golo relies on a 1300-1500 calorie per day meal plan as well as their proprietary supplement they claim regulates insulin. There is no proof that it does but who knows.

If you just do the 1300-1500 calories per day, on your own, you'll likely lose weight.

I am trying to lose some weight and it is hard..especially after menopause. I am 57 and what I am finally seeing is that protein is honestly soooo important. Weight Watchers used to work for me, but no longer.

I have started doing lower carb and high protein. I mean like 150 grams a day. It is the ONLY thing for me that has made the scale move at all. I am also on thyroid meds and have a metabolism that is very slow. I am also pretty active and really don’t sit much all day and do a lot of walking and hiking.

I am drinking two Premier Protein shakes a day (60 grams)and then planning my meals around veggies and lean proteins like chicken, turkey and beans to fill in the rest. I definitely eat carbs. I have light toast with avocado or peanut butter for breakfast and then usually a potato or rice with dinner and lots of veggies. I cannot do keto because I feel like crap on it and I also believe complex carbs like fruit and veggies are good for our bodies.

Once I lose the weight, I will definitely drop the shakes cause I don’t like the “fake” protein. But for now it is boosting my intake because I actually don’t have a big appetite and it is hard for me to eat 150 grams. I just get too full.

Maybe try boosting your protein for a few weeks to see if it helps. It is definitely harder to loose as we age and our bodies change.

Best of luck!😊

I started taking GOLO in September - I've lost 13 lbs and that includes eating during the holidays!

I followed their recommended diet the first two weeks and now I just watch what I eat but not a strict diet, take the pills and I'm losing a little and definitely maintaining. Definitely made a difference in my stomach area - no more bloating!

Golo is a weight-loss supplement that claims to help regulate insulin levels, boost metabolism and reduce food cravings. However, there is limited scientific evidence to support these claims, and there are also concerns about the safety and effectiveness of the ingredients in Golo. Additionally, weight loss and health improvement are complex issues that can be influenced by many factors, including diet, exercise, genetics, and medical conditions. use a weight lifting belt fir a heavy workout.

And if read the fine print on their website they always include this disclaimer that says the FDA hasn't approved it and they have no proof to support the claims they make....................

I've looked at their website, just out of curiosity. I cannot find any information that indicates there is any actual medication within the pills. All I have been able to find is information on the vitamins, minerals and supplements it contains. Some of the supplements are documented to help support insulin levels such as Berberine which have anti-inflammatory properties, and Inositol, which is also is documented to support insulin levels. All of these are just supplements, which in the common American diet, many people need various supplement, no different than needing a Vit D or Mag supplement.
Seeing that this is not FDA approved or regulated, IMO, the consumer is better positioned to simply use supplements purchased through a pharmacy store that have FDA approval. Furthermore, most see results based on exercise and consumption changes, and these products merely aid in exercise/diet as the primary mechanism of health mgmt.

I've been following the old Weight Watchers plan from the 90s, which is online in various places. Easy to follow, and no meetings or fees because it's the old plan. I've lost 45 pounds since March. No pills needed, just the diet and exercise. Maybe it will work for others?

I had never heard of GOLO, but as I understand it: eat healthy and in addition buy our supplements?
