We are getting PAP, so we can finally golf while there. But, what should we do with our kids- 7,5,3.
We could:
Bring them
Take older 2 to kids club and bring youngest
Only send hubby and I stay with kids
Let them stay in room...Joking! Some day they will be old enough....

Kids' clubs are not open during the day. They don't open until about 4 or so. You'd need an inroom baby sitter. I don't think anyone who isn't playing golf can ride in the cart. Plus the other golfers will love having little kids on the course. You might even been paired up with two other golfers.

I may be wrong, but the PAP is for Oak Trail only. It is a walking course, no carts. Cannot see kids tagging along here. Not good golf etiquette.

Pretty sure you would need an in room sitter, like Kids Night Out. Kids Clubs are only open at night, generally after 4 or 4:30, no idea when the last tee time would be.

Yep, either one of you stays back, or you get an in room sitter. Non golfers aren't allowed on the course, and most courses have a minimum age (your seven year old might be old enough to golf).

If we are going in June, we could do kids club! The in room kinda freaks me out. The age is4 for kids club?

They recently (I want to say within the last year or so) reduced the age requirement on the kids clubs to 3, but they must be potty trained. So dropping all 3 kids at a kids club ( provided the youngest is potty trained) would be an option for a late tee time, but expensive at 11-12 bucks per hour PER KID. (And I believe a minimum 2 hour charge.). Kids Night Out would be cheaper.

we have golfed with kids @ Oak Trail. I think they will let your 7 yr old "golf." They have Jr clubs for kids for free. It is A LOT of walking--no carts. I think Dad should take 7 yr old and golf a couple 4 or 5 holes, then call it a day. I think at the 4th hole, you are near enough to walk back. My 8 yr old was very tired after 9 holes. My 13 yr old quit after 4 holes. It's a great "big" course for a kid to learn on--lots of amateurs--no pressure---but be sure no one wears denim. They also have a driving range that you can use prior/after golf right at the starter place.
IMHO, it's not worth the $$$ to put kids in the kids club to golf @ Oak trail. Since it's free on your PAP--you could also pop over and golf 4 or 5 holes another day as well while kids were in the pools with 1 parent. Also, for the parent who stays with the kids--a fun, low key thing that I love when I am alone with my kids is to go to the Community Hall and have then do crafts/color, etc. It's like a kids club, but open 8-8, but parents have to stay. It's free. The AKV Community Hall is the best one, IMHO. It's over at Kidani. Lots of free or $1 crafts all day, Wii, PS3, pool table, games. There's a great balcony to sit and watch animals, etc. My kids will stay for 3 hours there.

Thanks for all your tips! The 7 year old will probably start to golf next year. Will probably just send hubby to golf himself. How far in advance should we book tee times? Do DVD members get discount for kids clubs?

Yes there s a DVC discount at the kids clubs, 15% I just checked.

You can reserve tee times up to 90 days in advance. You can usually easily get time around what you want by calling 30 days in advance. And if a single, you can probably get something around the time of day you want by calling a couple days in advance (they hook you up with others)
