Golfing for the not so good

This is a great thread considering I've only golfed three games so far and am still taking lessons. OK - all you good golfers can groan - another new golfer on the course! :D I'm taking lots of notes on play etiquette!

Laurabearz - we need to golf together - I like your style! :D

Drusba - can you recommend a golf course at Hilton Head for the "not so experienced" golfer? My DH and I are headed there in Feb (we are HH owners as well as BWV) and would like to golf. Thanks for any input!

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can find the cost of a round at the 9 hole course?
I think the practise will do me good...my biggest fault is that I seem to stand to close to the ball AFTER I've hit it!!!

Oak Trail is I think , $38 for 9 holes and you can replay another 9 straight after ( well after a drinks stop) for $19.

LBV is a nice course and convenient for OKW, my only word of warning is that it's a pretty tight course and if you are wayward off the tee will find yourself in some interesting locations. If your problem is you hit it straight, but not very far , then this is probably your best choice. If you hit the ball OK, but aren't always very straight then I would suggest Palm or Magnolia, you get a bit more room there. I think Osprey Ridge is a possible choice, but it is expensive. I wouldn't advise a beginner to try Eagle Pines as almost every hole you have to hit the ball at least 120-150 yards to clear an almost bunker like area covered with pine needles. If you land in these areas it's a REALLY good shot to get out onto the fairway again.

Of course if you have a car then there are many local courses that offer much better value than the Disney courses. For example a pretty good nine hole at Orange Lake Country Club ( 10 minutes drive) was $20 per person.
