My family and I are going to attempt golfing in WDW and have decided to start with Oak Trail.

Anyone have feedback?

And where on property is it located? All the research I do for these trips and I can't pin point where it is and how to get there. :confused3

Thanks.

42 days and counting til WDW!!!!!! :cool1:

I'm researching golfing at Disney for my dad - I found this site very helpful

http://www.wdwgolf.com/

also I noticed last night that the inside cover of my passporter has the Disney Golf courses on their map of Disney - not sure if that's published anywhere tho, but you may be able to look at it at a library, or a bookstore??

I believe you have to go to Shades of Green for Oak Trail, 9 hole course.

If you stay on property, ask at Guest Services, they'll make arrangement for you to get there (and I think it is no charge - except for tipping the cabbie).

Cool about the free taxi if that is true..Can anyone confirm that?

We went last year but took our own car but this year we won't have one so we will need to get other transportation. We played I believe at Lake Buena Vista golf course which was 18 holes . The course was really nice, we got paired up with another couple because they have you go in groups of 4.

The only thing I didn't like was that the people working at the golf course rushed us if we were taking too long (which I understand b/c they have people teeing off like every 10 minutes) But I am so used to playing up where I live and taking my time and enjoying myself that for the money we spent to play on Disneys golf course, half the time we just kept picking up our golf balls so we didn't get spoken too for being too long (and we weren't taking that long either...It was just that we didn't always make it in the hole in 3 shots so those few extra shots took up time) Other than that we enjoyed the course itself and they have a cart that goes around with drinks and fruit and stuff which I thought was really neat :)

We are going again this Sept....:) just not sure which course yet!

I have a passporter and the 9-hole course-Oak Trail is not noted.

The site you noted above has great info but no indication of location.

Thanks for the tip!!

I will know research Shades of Green. We are bringing our own clubs (all three sets-so maybe we will just drive ourselves if it is that close)

Thanks for the info :sunny:

I have played four of the courses at Disney but not Oak Trail. It is true that if you tell the front desk you are going golfing they will call you a cab and give you a voucher to pay for the trip. I have done that several times. Last two times I only took my shoes, glove and balls and rented my clubs there. They have several levels of club rental and all were very good sets. The prices are higher in the winter, being the peak season for golf and lower in the summer. If you play after 12:00 during the summer the price is the lowest. I don't think I have ever paid more than about $35 for a round even on the nicer course. Being from the Texas Gulf Coast the weather doesn't bother me that much because it's what we have here all summer. Enjoy your golf. The courses are wonderful.

next to the Palm and Magnolia courses (near Shades of Green). It is a wonderful 9-hole (walking) course that never seems to get busy. I've played all 99 holes (several times) and always try to fit Oak Trail in. On several occasions, the pro shop has told me that no one will be on the course and I can continue playing after 9 holes if I would like. I have seen alligators on Oak Trail so beware of walking too close to the water.

It is true - taxis are FREE to all golf courses from your on-site resort. The bellhop stand will give you a voucher for the cab to the course (tip included) and the pro shop will call a cab for you when you are done (and provide the voucher for the return trip - again, including tip). Just let them know which course you are going to.

As far as the other courses, if you make tee times at odd times (before an afternoon price break) you will have a better opportunity to play by yourselves with a more relaxing pace. Also, try to schedule tee times for other than the weekends - lots of locals golf then.

I'm playing four times in Oct - Eagle Pines; Osprey Ridge twice, and Lake Buena Vista. My vacation is right before the PGA tournament (which is played on the Palm and Magnolia) so I decided to stick to the other side of the property for golf - I know preparations for the tournament will/could interfere with golfing on those two courses.

I played Magnolia and Palm back in March. Both were in fantastic Shape and they are located right next to Oak Trail.

Previous poster is correct about the alligators. Magnolia I was on 16 and coming up the green. Guys called me over and there by the lake was a 8 ft gator. The cab ride is free both ways.

Magnolia was closed when I was down there in June. Taking the monorail I could see #16 and 17 Greens and they were torn up. Getting it in game shape for the PGA.

I dont think you can go wrong with any course at Disney.

Have fun and sink them on the first putt!!

I think the Oak Trail is a great course! DH and DS played it together many years ago. DH is a low single handicap golfer, DS had never played golf before. Both loved it, and IMO, any course that can entertain two such different ability golfers is a great course. BTW, DS really took to golf, loves it now, so he came away from the course with the incentive to continue! And, yes, it's over at Shades of Green with Palm and Magnolia.
