Hi,
Dont know if this is the right forum so feel free to move it.
has anyone played golf at disney, thinking about playing the magnolia course and maybe getting a lesson out there.
Any tips?

my df wants to play when we go over for our wedding! we looked at the course the other week and they look stunning

My hubbie is a PGA pro and he played Magnolia last August, he even hired clubs out there and said they were very good quality, it took an awful long time to play though (over 5 hours) He did enjoy it but doesn't want to play this year :confused3

Thanks, yeah i want to play on my honeymoon over there, only thing is my DW2B isnt a golfer, but she would want to come around with me in the buggy.
I like the look of the magnolia course but i suppose any would do.
when i emailed them they said they would group me with other players to make a 4 ball
Can i ask why it took him 5 hours?
What clubs did he hire the cobra's or titleist
I play off 26.

I've played most of the Disney courses. Personally, I think Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines are nicer courses, but I would say Magnolia is more challenging!

Club hire is, from memory, something like $50/60.

Normally bank on it taking 4 1/2hours or so to play. The courses are quite long compared to a lot in the UK, well at least the ones I play. Disney also like making as many fourballs as possible, so, if you are anything less than a 4, expect to get some people along with you. This has happened every time I have played Disney. Not that it is an issue though, I always find it enjoyable.

No problem with having DW2B along for the ride, they'll just give you a cart to share - you ought to mention it when booking though, so they know how many carts they'll need - oh, and you'll have to pay a rider fee.

Hope that helps!

DH and My dad usually play when they go, they have played Magnolia, Palm, Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge. They preferred Magnolia (its the one with the mickey bunker i think?!)

Last time they went it cost them around $120 for the round, the buggy, clubs, shoes etc. If you play after 10am its cheaper - i think they do a special price slice rate at that time!

Also if your staying at a Disney hotel you get a free taxi to and from the golf course!

Thanks for the help. Were going in august so will defenatly be looking to play later on when its cooling down.
Dont know which course to play now as i dont think id want to be on something to challenging but would like the nice views and that and animals for DW2B to see.

Do you mean later on in the month or the day? If the latter, I'd recommend going the other way - play as early as possible to get the coolest of the weather. It is normally its hottest at around 3pm, so you want to be back in by then. Also, if August's weather is true to form, the afternoon is when any rain and thunder will be around.

I played last August, and it was in the mid 90's by the time we finished - nice and toasty!!

From what you've said I would go for Osprey Ridge or Eagle Pines. Both are nice courses visually, and IMHO have more wildlife on than Magnolia, which is a PGA event course and looks like one. They are still a challenge though, so not to worry there, and I play off a similar standard to you.

LBV is also a nice course, but not as nice as the other 2 I mentioned IMHO.

no were going early in august, i ment later on in the day. but if what you say is true then i think i ll pay the full fee and go early.

cheers i ll look more at them other courses

Hi my husband is also a PGA pro and everytime we go he takes his clubs and plays (even on our honeymoon the clubs came too). He really enjoys the Palm course, I enjoyed going round with him in the buggy. Each time he has played he has been teamed up with the rest of the players and had a really good game, last September he took my dad around on the buggy and he loved it seeing all the wildlife on the course. Hope you get sorted:goodvibes

As both DH and I want to play on our next trip 18 Dec - 4th Jan does anyone know of courses in the Orlando area that offer a cheaper rate to this?

There are a lot of courses around the place. I think Falcons Fire and Celebration would be cheaper.

There are quite a few golfers around, so sure they'll be able to help. I've only ever played Disney and resort courses (which aren't cheap), so can't help I'm afraid.

Hi

I would try and stay away from the disney courses, they are nice but over priced for what they are plus it takes a long time to get round!!

I would recommend, Orange National County, they have two great courses there and only a 20 min drive from Disney, Celebration is okay also, if your happy to go further I would go for Southern Dunes, nice course and only cost $40 a hea to play including buggy and no charge for riders, plus was round in just over 4hrs, which is good for American courses.

The best though would be the courses at Orange National County, for Disney I played the 9 hole course, it was good fun and was round in 1hr 30....

Last time I played Magnolia took me 3.5 hrs for 9:scared1: !! Scary!

Osprey Ridge is definitely the best course on Disney property - there are plenty of independent reviews on the net to back that opinion up.

It's very good for wildlife too, my wife is happy to come around just for the wildlife. We've seen Ospreys (obviously!), Bald Eagles, Wild Turkeys, deer and Armadillos. I would go as late in the afternoon as possible, because that is when the wildlife will be around.

Agree with Lannin about Orange County National though - great courses!
