Hello -

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought I'd try here. DH has just expressed interest in going to the Funai tourney, and I have a few questions of anyone who has attended this before:

Is it best to get tickets in advance, or is waiting until the day of (we'd be going Saturday, not the final day) ok to do? If so, where would we get tickets that day?

Is there some kind of transportation to the tournament (we'd be coming from AKL)?

What time of the morning does it start and/or when would you recommend getting there?

Thanks for your help!

No answers here. ;)
Maybe you can try the transportation board.
Good luck.

We are planning on going for the first time this year so I can answer some of your questions based on the research I have already done.

There is transportation provided by the tournament not Disney from the Epcot parking lot. You do need to pay the Epcot parking fee. There may also be transportation from the TTC but I have not confirmed that yet.

You can buy advance tickets from Ticketmaster but the tournament is offering buy one adult ticktet get one free to both DVC members and AP holders. These must be purchased at the gate which I think opens about 7AM.

I have no idea if the crowds at the gate will be heavy but the offer of buy one get one is too good to pass up.

We've been to the tournament several times over the last 5 years. DD is a Tiger Woods freak! Not sure about this year cause Tigers been injured (back problems?).

Here's what I know. Shuttles to the tournament leave from the far corner of the TTC lot. Signs will direct you there. No cameras, cell phones, purses, back packs, etc are allowed at the tourney. You have to leave them in your car. Tickets are purchased at the gate and its never crowded. There is a large map of the courses at the gate that shows where the groups are on the course. We just looked for the largest group of people and we knew that was where Tiger was. The other players had much smaller groups with them. We really enjoyed the whole experience.

As DVC members we took advantage of the 2 for 1 admission deal. Since we wanted to see Tiger we timed our visit around when he was playing. I think we checked one of the local papers to see when he teed off.

1. Tickets can be purchased at the main gate...I would just purchase the tickets at the main gate in case it rains that day. I have never seen them sell out.

2. Transportation - There are special transportation busses at Epcot that will take you directly to the tournament. You can also take a bus from the AKL to the Magic Kinddon and take the boat or monorail to the Polynesian and walk to the golf course - about 1/4 mile.

3. I think the gates open between 730am - 830am on the weekends. It usually starts getting busy around 11am when the tournament leaders tee off.

I'm actually playing in the tournament this year as an amateur on Thursday and Friday so send me some Pixy Dust for good luck.

Have fun !!!!

Wow, playing in the tournament! How did you get to do that? Did you have to qualify? Of course, you'll have a green Mickey Head tied to your golf bag so we can recognize you, right? One of our TVs (coincidently, it's the one DS watches) ONLY gets the Golf Channel. Good luck!

Related question to people who have previously attended the golf tournament.

Are you allowed to leave and come back to the tournament on the same day? Am thinking about taking a break from the sun and going to one of the monorail hotels for lunch.

Thanks in advance.

Cyride - good luck!

You will be given an admission tag with the date stamped on it. Most people wear it on their shirts. This allows you to come and go as you please. A previous poster stated you could walk to the Poly but I'm not sure how safe that would be with all the traffic and no walking paths.

Cyride - Can you let us know who you are paired with on Thurs and Fri, all of us DIS'ers at the tournament can come and cheer you on!:cheer2:

Docsnort,
