Hi Everyone:
I don't know if this is the right forum but didn't know where else to put the ques. My DH is going down for the golf tournament in Oct. & we were wondering if anyone has been before & can give us some tips; parking, crowds etc. ?
Thanks pgjam:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I know nothing about this, so I'm going to bump this back to page one for you.

I've been several times to the Golf Tournament. If your husband is staying on-site, he needs to catch a shuttle bus from the area by the Kennel (Magic Kingdom) over to the golf course. If he is driving, they will have parking located, I believe, in the Magic Kingdom lot - there will be directional signs to follow.

The Tournament itself is not crowded - it's a great time to see the players up-close. The park attendance is slightly higher due to the players families and friends that travel with the players for this week (seems every golfers' family wants the golfer to play this tournament - wonder why :D )

Note that the tournament is played on both the Palm and Magnolia (with a Father/Son tournament on Oak Trail) so your husband should plan accordingly depending on which day he goes and if there is a particular player he wishes to see.

Security will be at the gates of the course for bag checks - regular rules apply - no cell phones, cameras (during tournament play), etc.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Can you buy tickets at the entrance or do you need advance tickets?
Thanks

You can buy tickets at the gate (to the tournament) or via ticketmaster (if you want them in advance). I would suggest buying them at the gate since ticketmaster will charge you a service fee.

Tickets are available as a weekly pass or a single day.

Another idea, if you don't mind walking a couple hundred yards (which would mean you probably shouldn't go to a golf tourney anyway!) - take the monorail to the Polynesian or Grand Floridian. I strolled over from GF last year no problem. Also, if your husband is a big golf fan, tell him to keep his eyes out for players in the parks. Once they miss the cut, many visit the parks with their families. (You'll notice I don't get to visit during the tourney this year! We'll be there the week prior. That way, I won't be tempted to spend all my time at the course this year! The pros are coming to Atlanta 2 weeks later - so I'll get my fix then!)

We were disappointed when we found out that the tournament had been scheduled a week later this year so we are going to miss it. DD was really looking forward to seeing Tiger again this year! Last year she got so close to him she could have reached out and touched him. It was the highlight of her trip. Several years ago we saw Corey Pavin at Epcot. It's a fun time at WDW if you're a pro golf fan.

They do have admission discounts for DVC members and maybe AP holders(?). The crowds at the tourney are always small, except for the large group following Tiger around!!
