My dad just mailed me a copy of the WDW Tencentnial News from our trip in 1982, and wow :earseek: are there some cool things in there. The Empress Lilly, and the EPCOT Preview Center are just a few highlights. But what I can't figure out is what's the Golf Resort Hotel? Its '82, so the GF doesn't exist, and I'm sure its not the Poly. Is the old Golf Resort Hotel SOG, or just one of the "Disney Village" Hotels that are all part of DTD now?

It is now SOG indeed. It was also known as the Disney Inn for some years in between.

Was there a picture of the Pool in the shape of Mickey's face.
behind the Resort?
In 1977 The Trophy Room Resturant next to the Lobby was the WDW executives dining room which had the a world class chef.
Plus at dinner time there was a trio of a guitarist, violinist, and accordianist serenading the guests as they past each table while they dined taking requests.
It was one of the things that made up THE MAGIC!

I stayed in the Disney Inn in 1993. It had even BIGGER rooms than the Contemporary, and for tranquility it could not be beat. I remember the theme was Snow White (Sleepy Dwarf was on the sign outside), in keeping with the hotel's atmosphere. It reminded me of nothing less than a New England bed and breakfast.

The Garden Gallery Restaurant was one of WDW's best kept dining secrets. Anyone remember the french-fried iced cream?

I'm always hungry for information about the Disney REsorts before the Great Expansion in 1988. Tell me more?

The Trophy Room became the Garden Gallery. I remember reading about the french-fried ice cream but I don't think we ever ordered it. Sunday brunch there was great.

We didn't stay at the Polynesian until 1983 but at that point the Trophy Room was open for guests. Was it exclusively for Disney executives in 1977, MK Familystone?

Best resort on WDW property! Miss storytime with Snow White and Dopey. Sitting in the rocking chairs while feeding grapes to the ducks was a great way to find peace in the middle of WDW.

I think the Garden Gallery was still a favorite lunch spot for Disney executives up until the company leased the Disney Inn to the U.S. military.
