My husband and I are planning a trip to Italy next spring and looking at the possibility of staying a few nights at the Golf Residence Il Pelagone in Tuscany (it's a World Passport option through Buena Vista Trading Company). Can anyone offer any advice on previous stays, transportation to/from Rome, likelihood of getting reservations, things to do at resort, etc. Many thanks in advance.

Do a search on the user name GolfGeek. He did a trip report last year.

Il Pelagone does have a web site but no way to contact them. Looks like they do day trips to Florance and Pisa. I think we would probably drive from Rome to the resort rather than take the train.

I've plunked down the money to try and get a week in late June 2006. But now I'm worried we won't get decent air fares due to all the fuel increases.

Please PM me if you access more info!

ENjoyed a fantastic 10 day trip to Italy in Sept. Did not stay at the resort you mentioned but would DEFINTELY advise renting a car for day trips because there is SO much to see and do in the Tuscany area (and beyond!) The Cinque Terre area was our favorite. ALso stayed a couple of nights in Rome but did not rent our car until we were on our way out of town to Lucca. Worked out great...you do NOT want to drive in the city of Rome any more than you have to. Driving thru the countryside was just fine though. (Check Auto Europe for good rates. We picked up car at Villa Borghese in Rome which was a breeze...also got free upgrade to a cute little Mercedes!) Would love to hear about your trip. Italy was a dream trip for us...also got an unbelievable fare from Raleigh to Rome via JFK (less than $250 per person ROUND TRIP...and we had first class seats!!! No doubt a glitch in the online booking system but, hey, I was HAPPY!!!!!) Ciao!
