Hi all, BIL would like to golf in April. Anyone have any idea on rought rates at OKW for DVC members, does that include the cart and what are rental fees for clubs? I'm not a golfing fan at all so I have no clue what else BIL and DH would need. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kim

Here's a link to the golf section of WDW. Lake Buena Vista is the course that runs through OKW. The posted rates are only through this week, April will be higher.

The DVC discount involves buying a badge. Some of our regular golfers can give a better explanation. I think there are also lower rates for playing in the late afternoon (not just for DVC).

DH is a "regular" WDW golfer-every day! The badge is about $90 and it allows you and up to 3 guests with you to play at a reduced rate after 10:00am. Don't know the rates in April, we always go in May, primarily because rates are lowest-$35. And that includes 1/2 a cart. If you're by yourself, as DH usually is, just sign up for a tee time, and they'll group you with others. The course is the Lake Buena Vista course. If you get to play, be sure to bring a camera! Last year, DH had someone take his picture on the golf course in front of our Villa. Great, unique picture. I haven't yet timed it so that I'm on the balcony to wave when he plays by our villa, but sometime I'd love to.
Whether or not the badge is worth it depends on how many rounds of golf you're going to play in a year (it's good until the end of the same month in the next year) and whether you'll have guests with you.

Rates are $95 in April for the DVC member golf pass. (The rate goes down to $35 a round on May 3 through sometime in October, then it's $50 a round until January when it goes back up to $95. The DVC golf pass is good until the end of the month following one year. That is, if you purchase on April 15, 2004, I think it is good until April 30, 2005, if I remember correctly. The DVC discount is good for tee times 10:00 am and after, so no early tee times at that rate. But there are other discounts if you don't want to buy the DVC discount card, which is approximately $85 plus tax. The best courses are Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines, followed by Magnolia and Palm. Lake Buena Vista is a nice course, but fairways are narrow. It's the one that winds through OKW. Magnolia is the one with the Mickey shaped sandtrap. There are alligators along the water hazards, so be careful if you hit your golf ball close to one. Rates are for 18-holes and I'm not sure if it includes a golf cart. DVC golf pass also is good for 20% off on golf instruction.

Don't forget about the golf course in Celebration. I rates there for until April 11 is $55 after 2pm and $79 on or before 2pm. On April 12 the rates are $45 after 3:30 pm and $59 on or before 3:30 pm. Rates include green fees, golf carts and taxes.

Yes, rates include a golf cart, at least for sure at OR, LBV, Magnolia, and EP. And I THINK it includes free range balls, but not sure about that. And they'll give you free transportation to/from your resort if you don't have a rental car.

To answer your questions about rates for golf club rentals. The Birmbaun book quotes rates for club rentals as $45-55, with photo ID, major credit card and $500 refundable deposit.
