Golf - early/mid May - Weather ?

Thinking about going for a week in 2013 (big 50 !) with friends to golf. Hoping someone can answer a couple of questions....

1. Is May pretty dry in the afternoon ? PM golf rates are much better than am but wouldn't like to be stopped due to lightning.

2. Golf courses - any recommendations ? Discount vouchers ?

There is a chance of rain late afternoon, but it tends not to last too long?
Thoroughly enjoyed Orange County National, Celebration and Falcons Fire.
If you look at Golfnow.com you can book a week in advance and generally get a good deal?
