Hi my DH and DBIL would like to play golf whilst we are in Orlando. Is there a Disney course they can play? They havent played in years but are not rookies:rolleyes1. They would need somewhere they can hire clubs which doesnt require them to bring a handicap certificate? Any advice would be appreciated.:)

you're going in August?

it is sooooooooooooooooooooooo hot in august, i'm not sure you'll actually want to golf...

i always plan to golf and then the weather slams me in the face and i think better of that insane idea!!!!

but if they really want to golf, they can on any of the golf courses at WDW...

you can find very comprehensive information here:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/recreation/golf_main.htm

.

Disneys oak trail golf course is included in the 2 week disney world ticket would just have to pay for club hire. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/golf/oak-trail-golf-course/ I am sure they are used to having non tiger wood stars lol

golf is included in the 14 day ultimate?????
wow...i didn't realise that!!
but still, i'm only going to be there for 6 days (over the course of two weeks), so i just don't see how i could fit it in....and there is the weather..

one year we even stayed on a golf course (at the villas of grand cypress) and i really had the intention of golfing that year...we even drove over to the club house....got out of the car....walked two steps....turned around and walked back to the car!!!! what can i say...the weather defeated me completely....best laid plans of mice and men...

Well, I think they were planning it for our second week, which is the first week in September, and going out in the evening but it was a brave idea fueled by alcohol :drinking1. However, they are insisting they will do it but we shall see. I will read up on the courses and they can decide.

DH loves golf it's all the planning he does towards the holiday. He is a green keeper here at golf course so he says he is doing research on holiday lol. He is taking his own clubs in September as dad and my brother in law are also coming with their clubs.

Father in law and sister in law's DH are going to play the Oak Trail golf course on Monday.
They have been told that Bell Services will arrange a complementary taxi to take them and bring them back from the course.

I will post an update on what they say about it later :)

Wow.....a complimentary taxi to and from the Oak Trail golf course along with free green fees, wish they would do that for the Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland Golf Courses.:rotfl:

Golf Club hire at the 9-hole Oak Trail is $15 and $6 for a cart.

Played Oak Tree course a few years ago, 9 holes but I think it would be perfect.
Might be there myself this August.
Must dash 8.40 tee time monthly medal

Looks like they do as I just searched for that and found this....

Complimentary taxi vouchers (through Yellow Cab) are provided for Walt Disney World Resort guests who are going to play golf at one of Disney's golf courses. The Valet desk or Bell Services will call a cab for guests. The Pro Shop at the golf course will assist guests in returning to their resort.

Check out http://www.wdwinfo.com/recreation/golf_oak.htm

Its usually a free taxi for WDW resort guests to any of their golf courses.

DH and my Dad always play when we go regardless of weather (i think they would play in the snow here if the course was open!) We usually go May or early sept and they usually play after 10am as its normally cheaper. The 18 hole courses can be booked 90 days out online and you can see prices/offers on their website.

They dont tend to take clubs over there as they have a good selection to rent and they often get offers like free club rental (they are dvc members and usually have Aps)

Their favourite WDW courses are Magnolia (as its the one with the Mickey head bunker) and Osprey Ridge.

yes, the all weather golfers....one time at OKW, they gave us a room overlooking one of the greens....one of our favorite pastimes that trip was watching the golfers who refused to quit in the face of Orlando's infamous lightning storms....willing to risk life and limb just so not to leave their beloved golf!!
nothing more intelligent than standing in the middle of a green holding a metal (lightning) rod in your hand!!!!

We did that yesterday! Couldn't believe they were still playing

We played at oak trail in August 2011 and are not good golfers! DH went back a second time whilst I popped to DTD for crucial shopping time. Oak trail is included in 14 day ticket, the cab there was included as was club hire, but I think we paid for extra balls (gives you a clue how good we were!).

We went early and it was hot, they had some water fountains but make sure you take your own too. In a thunderstorm they drive around in a little cart to collect you off the course! DH very cross when there wasn't actually a storm overhead, mini sulk followed but it makes sense! Ha ha.

The guys played this today.
Took a few CMs at Bell Services this morning to understand that a complementary taxi was required.

Best advice is take a golf glove and plenty of balls.

They said they would do it again :)
